A Luddite protecting his turf from new <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> or an industry legend trying to reconcile his place in the entertainment firmament?<\/p>\n<p> He left no doubt Monday, when the Academy Award-winning director and Netflix<br \/>\n        NFLX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202353025\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.98%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       announced a partnership with Spielberg\u2019s film and TV studio Amblin Partners. Under the deal, he will make multiple new films a year for the streaming platform. <\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       \u201cThis new avenue for our films, alongside the stories we continue to tell with our longtime family at Universal and our other partners, will be incredibly fulfilling for me personally since we get to embark on it together with \u2026 the entire Netflix team,\u201d Spielberg said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>No financial terms were disclosed. Amblin\u2019s hits include \u201cGreen Book,\u201d which won Oscar Best Picture, and \u201c1917,\u201d which won three Oscars. Netflix released the Amblin-produced, Aaron Sorkin-directed\u00a0\u201cThe Trial of the Chicago 7,\u201d which collected six Oscar nominations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Spielberg-Netflix deal raised eyebrows in Hollywood and Silicon Valley because the famed director has expressed frustration that theater owners, streaming services, and traditional studios need to come together to figure out a way to protect what he likes to call the \u201cmotion picture theatrical art form.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Spielberg has maintained that his attitude toward Netflix and other streaming services was grossly misconstrued after reports surfaced in 2019 that he planned to propose Oscar rule changes that would block films that are primarily distributed online from competing. \u201cSpielberg: Ban Netflix From Oscars\u201d blared one headline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want people to find their entertainment in any form or fashion that suits them,\u201d Spielberg said in an <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/04\/23\/business\/media\/steven-spielberg-netflix-academy-awards.html\" class=\"icon none\">email to The New York Times in 2019<\/a>. \u201cBig screen, small screen \u2014 what really matters to me is a great story and everyone should have access to great stories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, Spielberg is no stranger to streaming accords: In March 2019, he <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared at Apple Inc.\u2019s<br \/>\n        AAPL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202934861\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.18%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       launch of Apple TV+ to promote his anthology <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> \u201cAmazing Stories\u201d as part of the streaming service.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, the viewing habits of consumers have changed dramatically in a pandemic world. Millions have flocked to Apple TV+, Netflix, Walt Disney Co.\u2019s<br \/>\n        DIS,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203410047\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.85%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       Disney+, Amazon.com Inc.\u2019s<br \/>\n        AMZN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210331248\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.81%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       Prime Video, and elsewhere to view content safely from home as moviegoers slowly trickle back to theaters.
