\n The doves are still crying, perhaps more than ever.<\/p>\n

And Sunday \u2014 which would have been Prince\u2019s 62nd birthday \u2014 \u201cWhen Doves Cry: Songs for a Revolution\u201d will bring artists together in solidarity with the black community. Sponsored by Chelsea Music Hall, the event \u2014 slated for noon to 8 p.m. \u2014 will be a day of art, conversation and community, benefiting Color of Change, an organization that fights injustice against blacks.<\/p>\n

Of course, Prince \u2014 an artist who fought against many types of injustices \u2014 was born in Minneapolis, where George Floyd died while in police custody, and remained in the area until his 2016 death. And just as much as he sang about sex and his own kind of spirituality, he rocked his social<\/a> consciousness on songs such as \u201cSign o\u2019 the Times,\u201d \u201cAmerica\u201d and the early classic \u201cUptown.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the artists who will carry on his revolutionary spirit through live performances will be Chris Rob, YahZarah, Maya Sharpe, Koku Gonza and Phony. Meanwhile, Young RJ of Slum Village and Mega Ran will play songs from their new album, \u201c2 Hands Up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also, DJs Nickiee and Larry Millah will spin sets. And when the music pauses, there will be talks, including \u201cKnow Your Rights\u201d and \u201cProtect Your Health as You Protest.\u201d<\/p>\n
