The word \u201cpart-time\u201d has been thrown about, but what does that really mean? Is Bishop gone?\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bv6hExV8LV4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to a report from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tvline.com\/2021\/06\/21\/mark-harmon-leaving-ncis-season-19-gibbs-dies\/\">TVLine<\/a>, Harmon will only appear in a small number of episodes in season 19, with a source claiming that it\u2019s \u201cgoing to be in the low single digits.\u201d This would more than likely mean that Gibbs will\u00a0<em>not\u00a0<\/em>be joining NCIS again in a formal capacity, and has decided that now is the right time for him to walk away. The only alternative is if he hammers down some part-time consultant gig.<\/p>\n<p>So why use Harmon so infrequently? It may be tied to rumors that\u00a0<em>NCIS\u00a0<\/em>was going to end if Harmon left outright, and this is an arrangement that allows the show to stay on the air and keep the rest of the cast and crew employed. We\u2019ve already reported that\u00a0<em>Veep\u00a0<\/em>alum Gary Cole is in talks to join the show; it\u2019s very well possible that he could be filling the void Gibbs leaves behind.
