<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       Exxon Mobil Corp. reportedly plans to reduce its U.S. office workforce by up to 10% a year for the next three to five years.<\/p>\n<p> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-06-21\/exxon-prepares-to-cull-u-s-white-collar-ranks-by-as-much-as-10?srnd=premium&amp;sref=Oeyjq8by\" class=\"icon none\">Bloomberg News on Monday reported<\/a> that the oil giant will trim between 5% and 10% of its lowest-performing white-collar workers in the coming years, with job reductions based on performance evaluations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       An Exxon Mobil spokesperson told Bloomberg that the culling is part of an annual process that will not be characterized as layoffs, and is \u201cunrelated to workforce reduction plans.\u201d Last year, the company announced it planned to eliminate <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/exxonmobil-layoffs\/exxon-to-cut-14000-jobs-as-pandemic-hits-oil-demand-idUSKBN27E30U\" class=\"icon none\">as many as 14,000 jobs worldwide<\/a> as part of cost-cutting measures, as closures related to the COVID-19 pandemic pressured global oil prices.<\/p>\n<p>As of the end of 2020, Exxon employed about <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ir.exxonmobil.com\/static-files\/12d442a1-9503-450f-86a5-139512ce2f35\" class=\"icon none\">72,000 workers<\/a> worldwide, with nearly 30,000 of those based in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Exxon instituted a number of other cost-cutting moves, such as suspending bonuses and halting matching 401(k) contributions, as it reported a $20 billion net loss last year. Earlier this month, the company announced the election of three new directors who had been nominated by an activist-investor hedge fund in a bid to reverse the company\u2019s losses and build a sustainable future.<\/p>\n<p>Oil futures<br \/>\n        BRN00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209704782\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.08%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       have rallied this year, with prices rising Monday to their highest levels since October 2018.
