\nIs\u00a0Pete Davidson<\/strong> done at\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/em>??<\/p>\n

The weekend sketch show propelled him to fame, most notably in the segments on \u201cWeekend Update\u201d in which he was allowed to just be himself.<\/p>\n

But his celebrity exploded after a quickie engagement to Ariana Grande<\/strong> got everyone interested in his love life. And over the past couple years he\u2019s made himself a nice little movie career in films like\u00a0Big Time Adolescence<\/em>, the upcoming The Suicide Squad<\/em>, and the semi-autobiographical\u00a0The King Of Staten Island<\/em>.<\/p>\n

While the path\u00a0to movie stardom might not have been exactly orthodox for an SNL<\/em> star \u2014 he didn\u2019t expand a beloved sketch character into a movie or anything \u2014 his next step might be pretty standard: stepping away from the TV staple.<\/p>\n

During a roundtable for\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> last month, he casually threw out that he was \u201cready to hang up the jersey.\u201d And during May\u2019s season finale, he told the audience:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very grateful to be here, and it\u2019s been an honor to grow up in front of you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Which many took as a goodbye speech!<\/p>\n

So is he gone for good or not? Speaking to\u00a0Gold Derby<\/em> on Monday, he answered:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what the plan is. Everything\u2019s kind of up in the air right now just depending on scheduling.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The 27-year-old explained about his readiness to leave the show at the end of the 46th season, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is my seventh year, and that\u2019s usually what the contract\u2019s usually for, so it was really emotional. I worked with these guys for a fourth of my life, and I started there with acne and left with tattoos, and it was just, like, a very crazy, long period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Wow! Seven years! Time just flies so fast it\u2019s easy to miss how long it\u2019s been for the people on the show. Most TV jobs are lucky to go seven years. That\u2019s how long\u00a0Buffy<\/em> and\u00a0Gilmore Girls<\/em> lasted for comparison.<\/p>\n

Why isn\u2019t he for sure leaving then? Well, when it came to the end of the season, things were in a different place \u2014 as New York City was slowly reopening after the horror of the pandemic. Pete recalled:<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t ready for the season to end yet because I was really having so much fun. Just watching it go from one-third of an audience to [one-half] \u2026 and the last show was a full audience for the first time, just hearing that laugh, that full room laugh \u2026 I was just so emotional.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Will he ultimately change his mind? We\u2019ll have to see! \u201cDepending on scheduling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Something tells us that means depending on how many movies<\/a> he books whether he has time for the show\u2026 Or possibly how much money they offer him for a new contract??<\/p>\n
