Last year, the festival offered a hybrid platform of both limited in-person screenings and digital offerings. A hybrid <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach will still be in place this year, but from the looks of things, this year\u2019s TIFF is trying to go back to a format similar to the pre-pandemic era. Of course, this raises a big question: who gets to go to TIFF in person this year? At this very moment, the Canadian border remains closed to the U.S., and that closure remains for all but essential <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ers through at least July 21.<\/p>\n<p>While a full line-up of films is forthcoming, TIFF announced 12 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> that will play at the fest, and they include heavy-hitters like\u00a0<strong>Denis Villeneuve<\/strong>\u2018s<strong><em> Dune<\/em><\/strong> and <strong>Edgar Wright<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0<strong><em>Last Night in Soho<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->It\u2019s official: TIFF 2021 is set for\u00a0<strong>September 9\u201318, 2021<\/strong>. The Festival\u2019s Gala and Special Presentations will be announced on July 20. For now, though, TIFF has revealed 12 films that will be part of this year\u2019s festival. Those films include<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Le Bal des Folles<\/strong><\/em> directed by<strong> M\u00e9lanie Laurent<\/strong> (France) from Amazon Studios.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em> Benediction<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Terence Davies<\/strong> (United Kingdom) from Bankside Films.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Belfast<\/em><\/strong>, from director <strong>Kenneth Branagh<\/strong> (United Kingdom) from Focus Features.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em> Charlotte<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Eric Warin<\/strong> and <strong>Tahir Rana<\/strong> (Canada\/Belgium\/France) from Elevation Pictures and MK2\u00a0Mile End.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Dionne Warwick: Don\u2019t Make Me Over<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Dave Wooley<\/strong>, <strong>David Heilbroner<\/strong> (USA).<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The Guilty<\/strong><\/em> by director<strong> Antoine Fuqua<\/strong> (USA) from Netflix.<\/li>\n<li>HBO\u2019s <em><strong>Jagged<\/strong><\/em>, documentary on iconic Canadian singer-songwriter <strong>Alanis Morissette<\/strong>, directed by <strong>Alison Klayman<\/strong> (USA).<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Lakewood<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Philip Noyce<\/strong> (Canada).<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Last Night in Soho<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Edgar Wright<\/strong> (United Kingdom) from Focus Features.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Night Raiders<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Danis Goulet<\/strong> (Canada\/New Zealand) from Elevation Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Films.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Petite Maman<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>C\u00e9line Sciamma<\/strong> (France) from Elevation Pictures and NEON.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>The Starling<\/em><\/strong> by director <strong>Theodore Melfi<\/strong> (USA) from Netflix.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But wait, there\u2019s more! Festival Village at Ontario Place includes the Cinesphere IMAX Theatre, Visa Skyline Drive-in, RBC Lakeside Drive-In, and the West Island Open Air Cinema. TIFF 2021 highlights also include screenings across Canada as well as the return of the digital TIFF Bell Lightbox and TIFF Bell Digital Talks platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival\u2019s public digital experience is presented by Bell, with film screenings on digital TIFF Bell Lightbox available across Canada. In Conversation With\u2026talks and interactive Q&amp;A sessions with actors and creators will be hosted on TIFF Bell Digital Talks, available worldwide. And I personally have a hard time believing something as big as\u00a0<em>Dune<\/em> is going to be part of the digital offerings. Which asks a big question: is it safe to return to TIFF in person?\u00a0<em>Can<\/em> we return if we\u2019re not actually Canadian? The U.S. border into Canada is currently closed, and while September is still a little while away, things still seem a little up in the air.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_3 -->\u201cWe are confident in our planning for a return to in-person screenings as part of TIFF as both the province and country accelerate vaccination rollout,\u201d said <strong>Dr. Peter Nord<\/strong>, Chief Medical Officer, Medcan, and TIFF\u2019s consultative partner on health and safety for the pandemic. \u201cCanada\u2019s first-dose immunization rate has surpassed the US, and recently reached the best rates in the world. As of today in Toronto, more than 75% of adults have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 25% have received their second dose. We fully anticipate that by the time the Festival arrives, all Ontarians will have the opportunity to be fully vaccinated. Public health indicators, such as hospitalizations, ICU occupancy, and case rates indicate that we\u2019re on the right \u2014 and safe \u2014 path to fully reopening. In addition, audiences will confidently be able to enjoy in-cinema screenings by maintaining a safe physical distance and wearing a mask.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TIFF adds that it \u201ccontinues to work closely with the Province of Ontario, the City of Toronto, and public health officials on the safe execution of the Festival, with its number-one priority being the health and well-being of both Festival filmgoers and residents of the community.
