\n The NYPD has suspended two officers who were caught on bystander video shoving and pepper-spraying protesters at separate George Floyd demonstrations over the past week.<\/p>\n

Both videos had gone viral as examples of app<\/a>arently unprovoked violence against peaceful protesters; the two officers, who were not identified by NYPD officials, have been suspended without pay.<\/p>\n

In the first incident, from Friday, May 29, the offending officer was caught on camera shoving Dounya Zayer to the ground as she peacefully protested in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

The officer can be heard calling Zayer a \u201cstupid b\u2014h\u201d before pushing her to the pavement. She suffered a seizure and concussion, she has said.<\/p>\n

The second cop was filmed the next day pulling down a protester\u2019s mask and pepper-spraying him in the face.<\/p>\n

The NYPD\u2019s investigation into the two incidents is ongoing, Commissioner Dermot Shea announced Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese incidents mentioned below are disturbing and run counter to the principles of NYPD training, as well as our mission of public safety,\u201d Shea said. \u201cThe actions by these officers stand apart from the restrained work of the thousands of other officers who have worked tirelessly to protect those who are peacefully protesting and keep all New Yorkers safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shea added that \u201cthere are other matters that we are actively investigating and we will be transparent as the process continues.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zayer chided the officer who shoved her from her hospital bed after the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cThem acting the way they acted isn\u2019t helping the cause,\u201d she tweeted.shortly after the attack. \u201cIt isn\u2019t proving to us that they care about us.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
