“#Johnny Cash Live Album From 1968 Getting First Official Release<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Days before Johnny Cash released his iconic live album At Folsom Prison<\/em> in 1968, he performed in San Francisco at a venue run by members of Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead. His band included June Carter Cash, Luther Perkins, Marshall Grant, and W.S. Holland. That show was recorded by the Dead\u2019s sound person Owsley \u201cBear\u201d Stanley, and this year, it\u2019s getting a long-belated official release.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the Carousel Ballroom, April 24, 1968<\/em><\/a> is coming out on vinyl and CD on September 24 (via Owsley Stanley Foundation\/Renew Records\/BMG\/Legacy Recordings). The tracklist includes two Bob Dylan covers: \u201cDon\u2019t Think Twice It\u2019s Alright\u201d and \u201cOne Too Many Mornings.\u201d Check out the album\u2019s recording of \u201cGoing to Memphis\u201d below (via Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>).<\/p>\n

The release features essays in the liner notes from Cash\u2019s son John Carter Cash, Stanley\u2019s son Starfinder Stanley, Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead.<\/p>\n
