{"id":282866,"date":"2021-06-24T17:01:05","date_gmt":"2021-06-24T14:01:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/inside-fishs-eddys-secret-tableware-museum\/"},"modified":"2021-06-24T17:01:05","modified_gmt":"2021-06-24T14:01:05","slug":"inside-fishs-eddys-secret-tableware-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/inside-fishs-eddys-secret-tableware-museum\/","title":{"rendered":"#Inside Fishs Eddy&#8217;s secret tableware museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Inside Fishs Eddy&#8217;s secret tableware museum<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201c\u2018You here for the tour?\u2019 \u201d quips Julie Gaines, the co-founder of the iconic downtown home goods store <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fishseddy.com\/\">Fishs Eddy<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Though the shop has long been known for selling quirky kitchen items \u2014 including plates and mugs with an illustration of country music legend Dolly Parton that say \u201cHello Dolly!\u201d \u2014 Gaines has something new to show off that, until this month, only lucky eyes could see.<\/p>\n<p>Just one flight of stairs up from the store stands a free-admission, one-room museum that Gaines opened in early June. <\/p>\n<p>Welcome to the Museum of American Restaurant China, which showcases thousands of pieces of vintage restaurant-ware \u2014 with piles of dishes on the floor, plates across the walls and rustic-looking shelves stuffed with mugs and creamers. <\/p>\n<p>These items \u2014 including bits from New York Central Railroad dining cars \u2014 aren\u2019t for sale, but reflect a big part of Fishs Eddy\u2019s identity. (\u201cThat\u2019s from their corporate dining room,\u201d said Gaines.) <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignleft\">\n<blockquote><p>I wish I kept more.<\/p>\n<p><cite>Julie Gaines, Fishs Eddy\u2019s co-founder<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>A white mug with red letters shows the cursive logo of Junior\u2019s \u2014 a small vestige from the original 1950s diner in Brooklyn. \u201cI love this,\u201d she said while holding it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one goes to a diner and thinks about the history of the mug they\u2019re drinking out of,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>It could take hours for a visitor to browse through the assortment of the museum, open on Thursdays (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.), Fridays and Saturdays (both days 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.) \u2014 but Gaines thinks the space merits more pieces to show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish I kept more,\u201d she said.\n            <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
