The NFL has approved a plan where teams can use alternate helmets for throwback, alternate or Color Rush uniforms starting in 2022.<\/p>\n

Some throwback helmets could include the Buccaneers\u2019 old creamsicle look of a white helmet with an orange buccaneer logo, the Seahawks\u2019 silver helmets donned by Steve Largent and Dave Krieg, and New England\u2019s Pat Patriot headgear.<\/p>\n

Teams must inform the league of their plans for their 2022 alternate helmets by July 31. That gives designers one month to prepare for their team\u2019s new style.<\/p>\n

This is a rare example of a win-win. An older generation of fans can enjoy younger players wearing the full uniforms of the past. Generation Z can expand their collection of memorabilia and apparel, donning some fresh, new styles. <\/p>\n

And the players will be safe, as the helmets must adhere to all league policies and be worn in practice a week before game<\/a>day to ensure proper fit \u2014 teams have been restricted to one helmet since 2013 due to safety reasons.<\/p>\n
