Vice President Kamala Harris app<\/a>eared to remind President Biden to mention the deadly South Florida condo collapse before leaving a White House event Thursday. <\/p>\n

Biden had given remarks on infrastructure and taken questions from the press on that issue as well as voting rights. He then attempted to wrap up by telling reporters \u201cI\u2019ve got to get to a helicopter\u201d before Harris approached.<\/p>\n

The president and vice president exchanged a brief, whispered conversation that concluded with Harris saying, \u201cFlorida, yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, yes. I apologize,\u201d Biden said, turning back to the microphone as Harris retreated out of camera view. \u201cYes, thank you, Madame Vice President.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president went on to say that he would send federal aid to the site if it was required, but he was waiting on a formal request from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are on top of it,\u201d Biden said. \u201cWe are ready to move, from the federal resources, immedia<\/a>tely \u2014 immediately, if in fact we\u2019re asked for it \u2026 FEMA [Federal Emergency Management Agency] is down there taking a look at what\u2019s needed, including from, everything from \u2014 if the rest of those buildings have to be evacuated as well; finding housing for those people; making sure they have the capacity to both have a place to \u2014 to shelter, and food to eat, etc.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI made it clear that I say to the people of Florida: Whatever help you want that the federal government can provide, we\u2019re waiting,\u201d Biden concluded. \u201cJust ask us; we\u2019ll be there. We\u2019ll be there.\u201d<\/p>\n

At least one person has died and 99 people were unaccounted for late Thursday after the collapse of the 12-story condo building in Surfside, just north of Miami Beach. Fire officials said at least 35 people had been rescued from the rubble.<\/p>\n

Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett told Fox News<\/a> Thursday that what had been a search-and-rescue process was \u201cstarting to get into that horrifying portion of recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBuildings like this do not fall in America,\u201d Burkett told \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight\u201d. \u201cThis is a Third World phenomenon, and it\u2019s shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n
