“#Teamsters pass resolution to unionize Amazon drivers, warehouse workers<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s game<\/a> on between Amazon and the Teamsters.<\/p>\n

The powerful International of Brotherhood Teamsters union passed a resolution on Thursday to organize Amazon warehouse workers and drivers across\u00a0the country in what it\u2019s calling the \u201cAmazon Project.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAmazon presents a massive threat to working-class communities and good jobs in the logistics industry,\u201d Randy Korgan, the Teamsters\u2019 national director for Amazon, said in a statement. \u201cAmazon workers face dehumanizing, unsafe and low-pay jobs, with high turnover and no voice at work. Amazon workers are calling for safer and better working conditions and with today\u2019s resolution we are activating the full force of our union to support them.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 1.4 million-member organization is more powerful than the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store union, which just lost a fight to organize an Amazon warehouse in Bessemer, Ala. RWDSU is app<\/a>ealing the Alabama vote. <\/p>\n

The Teamsters have the heft and resources to fund multiple labor drives at the same time, say experts.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my more than two decades of service as Teamsters General<\/a> President, I\u2019ve yet to see a threat quite like the one Amazon presents to hardworking people, small businesses, the logistics industry and our nation\u2019s middle class,\u201d James P. Hoffa, president of the union, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Amazon did not immedia<\/a>tely respond for comment.\u00a0\n <\/p><\/div>\n
