“#Miley Cyrus set to release “peaceful protest” Pride special<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The LGBTQ+ community said \u201cGimme What I Want\u201d and Miley Cyrus obliged cause she can\u2019t stop, won\u2019t stop supporting her community. <\/p>\n

The former Disney star is set to release the \u201cMiley Cyrus Presents Stand By You\u201d Pride concert special on Peacock this Friday, right in time for the final weekend of Pride month. <\/p>\n

The 28-year-old announced the news<\/a> on Instagram<\/a>, teasing fans of her many costume changes and guests \u2014 including Madonna, Maren Morris,\u00a0Little Big Town,\u00a0Brothers Osborne,\u00a0Orville Peck and Mickey Guyton \u2014 who will join her on the stage at Nashville\u2019s Ryman Auditorium.<\/p>\n

The one-hour special<\/a> will feature her hits and her \u201ccreative spin\u201d on classics \u201cin celebration of Pride,\u201d including renditions of \u201cThe Climb,\u201d \u201cParty in the U.S.A.,\u201d \u201cTrue Colors,\u201d \u201cWe Belong\u201d and \u201cDancing Queen.\u201d <\/p>\n

Miley will be joined by drag queens Kylie Sonique Love and Jaidynn Diore Fierce \u2014 both from\u00a0\u201cRuPaul\u2019s Drag Race\u201d \u2014 along with Venus Ann Serena, Sapp<\/a>hire Mylan, Iris Lefluer and Raquel Rea Heart. <\/p>\n

In previews of the performance<\/a>, Miley and her guests belt out \u201cBelieve\u201d by fellow LGBTQ+ icon Cher, who recently joined TikTok<\/a> to wish everyone a \u201chappy Pride.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pop-turned-rock star described her concert special as a \u201cpeaceful protest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are laws endangering the lgbtq+ community all around the country and even here in my home state,\u201d she explained on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cWe can\u2019t stop and we won\u2019t stop doing everything in our power to create the changes we want to see not just here but AROUND THE WORLD! You\u2019ve gotta start somewhere! So I\u2019ve begun in Nashville.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miley has been a vocal and active advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. But her place as an LGBTQ+ icon goes beyond her flashy aesthetic and inspiring music, evident in her work within the community.<\/p>\n

In 2014, Miley sent Jesse Helt, a young homeless youth, onstage to accept her MTV Video of the Year award for \u201cWrecking Ball\u201d in honor of\u00a0\u201cthe 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now.\u201d He directed viewers to donate to My Friend\u2019s Place<\/a>, an organization helping homeless youth in Los Angeles. Working with My Friend\u2019s Place inspired Miley to start the Happy Hippie Foundation<\/a>, which went public in 2015. <\/p>\n

The singer started the nonprofit organization to \u201crally young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBTQ youth and other vulnerable populations,\u201d according to their mission statement. <\/p>\n

Then in 2016, Miley publicly joined the LGBTQ+ community when she came out as pansexual, telling Variety<\/a>, \u201cMy whole life, I didn\u2019t understand my own gender and my own sexuality.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said after meeting people who identified as gender neutral at an LGBTQ+ center in Los Angeles, she discovered her identity. \u201cI was like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s why I don\u2019t feel straight and I don\u2019t feel gay,’\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s because I\u2019m not.\u201d<\/p>\n

The global star often collaborates with members of the LGBTQ+ community, including drag queens in her 2015 VMA performance of \u201cDooo It!\u201d She also appeared on Season 11 of \u201cRuPaul\u2019s Drag Race\u201d in 2019 and featured RuPaul on her song \u201cCattitude\u201d that same year. <\/p>\n

The \u201cMiley Cyrus Presents Stand By You\u201d special will be the first of three specials that Miley will be doing with NBCUniversal. <\/p>\n
