A 7-year-old Connecticut girl who was app<\/a>arently killed by her mother in a murder-suicide was remembered by heartbroken father as a \u201cshining star\u201d with \u201cthe biggest imagination\u201d at her tearful funeral Friday.<\/p>\n

Roughly 100 people gathered to mourn little Layla Malon, who was drowned at her ritzy Westport home before her mother Tracy Do, 46, fatally stabbed herself, according to officials.<\/p>\n

The child\u2019s remains were placed in a pink, floral-patterned urn on a table next to a framed photo of her \u2014\u00a0as her shattered father, Eric Malon, and 13-year-old sister Alexis Malon, sat nearby clutching pink roses and shaking with grief.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter where she was, or what she was doing, she always had a smile on her face.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLayla was like a bright, shining star. No matter where she was, or what she was doing, she always had a smile on her face,\u201d the dad said through sobs during the eulogy at\u00a0the Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though she was only 7 years old, a little shorty, her personality was always the biggest in the room. She will be missed as a friend, sissy and daughter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a long day at work, I would come home and hear her footsteps running to the door to greet me or in the morning throw me a kiss to catch and hold all day. It was my favorite part of the day. On the weekends, we would work on projects together. I would watch you run around the sprinklers or just sit and talk to me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cOur memories I\u2019ll always cherish. You always had the biggest imagination \u2026No matter where you are and wherever on earth or in heaven you will always be Daddy\u2019s little girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police found the child\u2019s corpse, along with Do\u2019s, at their sprawling\u00a0$1.8 million\u00a0Lyndale Park home \u2014\u00a0and were at first probing their deaths as a possible double homicide, according to\u00a0 officials.<\/p>\n

Do had been locked in a heated court battle with her ex, Eric Malon, over the upscale\u00a0 home, according to court papers.<\/p>\n

The state Medical Examiner and police have said the child\u00a0died by homicide but have stopped short of alleging that Do was responsible.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
