It\u2019s impossible to go a day without seeing some impressively stunning images.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever tried to take similar photos, however, you might have been dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed to find that you came up short. Even applying filters, using paid Photoshop presets, or buying a dedicated camera can only get you so far. They give you significantly more control and much better photos than your smartphone, but they\u2019re still designed to be accessible and affordable. You can shoot exceptional images with them, but they have some limits.<\/p>\n<p>Which camera the photographer uses doesn\u2019t always make a difference. However, there are some situations where multi-thousand dollar processional cameras are required to get the shot:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional sports photographers use cameras that can capture dozens of photos per second so that they don\u2019t have to time their shot perfectly in order to capture the touchdown catch.<\/li>\n<li>A lot of magazine and fashion photos are shot using medium format cameras. These have larger sensors that give them a unique look that\u2019s hard to otherwise replicate.<\/li>\n<li>Most professionals use a full-frame camera. They\u2019re what determine the kind of photos you can shoot. Good lenses cost thousands of dollars and can weigh twice as much as the camera they\u2019re attached to!<\/p>\n<p>In many photos, the lens used is responsible for how they look. They either time their shoot so that the light is really good or bring their own lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Professional flashes aren\u2019t like the small bulb on your smartphone.\u00a0They\u2019re big and powerful and can be used to imitate natural light. Many images that look like they were shot in a sunny outdoor location were carefully lit by an expert.<\/p>\n<p>And even when pros use sunlight, they understand how to manipulate it so that they get the photos they want.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Staged_Settings\"><\/span>Staged Settings<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Another big aspect of photos that\u2019s often overlooked, especially with images for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>, is how staged they are. Who needs a filter when you have a professional makeup artist waiting just off camera? And you don\u2019t have to worry about a restaurant table looking cluttered when every item has been placed just so. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/intelligencer\/2017\/10\/you-can-rent-a-grounded-private-jet-to-take-instagram-photos.html\">Some people go so far as to rent time on grounded private planes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And even in situations that are obviously staged, like on magazine covers, you might not grasp just how staged they are. For example,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cosmopolitan.com\/style-beauty\/fashion\/advice\/a17087\/lies-photo-shoots-tell\/\">most clothes don\u2019t fit the models as well as they appear to<\/a>: They\u2019re adjusted using safety pins. Yes, tools like Liquify can totally change the shape\u00a0of a person, but there are other, subtler ways to do it, too.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/petapixel.com\/2013\/09\/12\/marked-photographs-show-iconic-prints-edited-darkroom\/\">Dodging and burning is a technique as old as photography<\/a>. It\u2019s where different areas of an image are selectively brightened or darkened to change how people see them. It used to be done by hand as photos were developed, but now it can easily be done in most image editors.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, skin smoothing and blemish removal aren\u2019t new techniques. Fashion and portrait photographers have been using them for decades. Photoshop just makes it a bit easier. And, while some images are obviously highly edited, a small amount of skin adjustment is common in most professional portraits. Some professional photographers shoot all of their subjects in a studio and then digitally add them to a background image that they shot on location\u2014or bought from a stock photo site.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Experience_Counts_the_Most\"><\/span>Experience Counts the Most<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As much as everything above <em>can<\/em> make the difference between an amateur\u2019s casual snapshot and a professional\u2019s commercial imagery, there\u2019s another big factor to consider: experience.<\/p>\n<p>Professional photographers aren\u2019t professionals because they\u2019ve bought all the best gear\u2014they\u2019ve bought all the best gear because they\u2019re making enough money through photography that they can justify investing in things that make their job a little easier. Most got their start with basic consumer cameras.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, anyone can buy Photoshop, but it can take months to learn how to use all the relevant tools to get the image to look exactly like you want it to.<br \/>\n What really sets professionals (and talented photographers) apart is that they can work within the limits of their gear and the situation that they\u2019re in to capture the best possible image.
