\n Police arrested two Bronx men in connection with the caught-on-camera Brooklyn Bridge attack on cops, including NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan, who on Thursday described the alleged assailants as \u201canarchists.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quron Campbell, 25, of the Bronx, was charged with allegedly attacking three separate officers, police said. Shayborn Banks, also 25 and from the Bronx, was busted for allegedly assaulting a lieutenant and criminal possession of a weapon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are part of this anarchist group that has been infiltrating this Black Lives movement since the beginning,\u201d Monahan said on \u201cGood Day New York.\u201c \u201cThis is what we dealt with since the first protest after George Floyd. It is a legitimate movement, but it is being hijacked by these anarchists, and they are the ones that have been attacking our police officers [and] are out hiding behind the many, many peaceful protesters that are out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

When questioned about Mayor Bill de Blasio\u2019s actions following the bridge attack, Monahan said Hizzoner \u201ccalled me right afterwards, asked about the officers, asked about my well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t expect the mayor to be on the bridge with me as this is going on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The highest-ranking uniformed member of the department said he was \u201cbruised up\u201d Wednesday morning as cops who were attempting to make an arrest on the roadway were attacked by other aggressors.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have some bruises on my body, my hands, fingers got jammed up, nothing broken,\u201d Monahan said.<\/p>\n

Two other cops with him took a beating, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy sergeant who works with me was hit in the head with a cane,\u201d Monahan said. \u201cHe got eight staples put in his head, one the lieutenants out on the walkway was attacked by an individual \u2014 he had the broken orbital bone in his face.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the individual that I reached over and I had to struggle with,\u201d the chief added, identifying the attacker as Quran Campbell. \u201cI got punched a few times by him, but we were able to get him in custody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the attacker caught on video clubbing cops with a cane is still on the loose, Monahan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working really hard with our detectives to get that individual with the cane,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s the person we want to get in custody.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the bridge attack, Monahan said he didn\u2019t think twice about the City Council\u2019s anti-chokehold bill, which includes a portion that he previously called \u201cdangerous\u201d \u2014 a ban on maneuvers that would press a suspect\u2019s diaphragm.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a police officer we make arrests,\u201d Monahan said. \u201cI cannot be thinking about that bill or worrying about that while I\u2019m fighting with somebody. It\u2019s what I had to do yesterday, it was not in my mind and I asked my cops, \u2018Don\u2019t worry about this, if you\u2019re doing the right thing, if you\u2019re using a reasonable amount of force to place someone in custody, don\u2019t worry about that bill.\u2019\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
