“#John Lithgow Is Returning as the Trinity Killer<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

If you didn\u2019t think you\u2019d see John Lithgow<\/a> back on the upcoming Dexter<\/em><\/a> revival on Showtime because his character, Arthur Mitchell, a.k.a. the Trinity Killer, is dead, it turns out you were wrong.<\/p>\n

Lithgow is returning, according to Deadline<\/em><\/a>, though no details have been shared yet as to how<\/em> he\u2019ll app<\/a>ear. The report calls his return \u201cshort but decisive.\u201d The easiest way would be some sort of \u201cnew\u201d flashback or hallucination.<\/p>\n

Lithgow appeared in the fourth season of the series<\/a>\u2019 original run. The husband and father got his name because he murdered three every year, and among his victims was Dexter\u2019s (Michael C. Hall<\/a>) wife Rita (Julie Benz). Dexter killed Arthur (pretty definitively, too). Lithgow won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Star in a Drama Series for the role in 2010.<\/p>\n

The revival of Dexter<\/em> picks up about eight years after we last saw the titular character, living in Oregon and working for a lumber company. Now, he has a new identity, and he\u2019s in the fictional town of Iron Lake in Upstate New York.<\/p>\n

Among the new characters in Dexter\u2019s new life is Iron Lake\u2019s mayor, Kurt Caldwell (Clancy Brown), the revival\u2019s villain, and the town\u2019s first Native American Chief of Police Angela Bishop (Julia Jones).<\/p>\n

\u201cDexter always has what we call \u2018the dark passenger\u2019 living inside him,\u201d executive producer Clyde Phillips previously said of the revival. \u201cHe is more grounded than he\u2019s ever been, but that dark passenger is a voice he cannot deny. This is Dexter<\/i>. People are going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n
