Trashed or not, this young man is good for his word.<\/p>\n

A UK man has made headlines for his admirable and comical commitment to a drunken dare in which he promised to change his name to John Cena, despite not being a fan of the former wrestler.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019d had a few drinks and were play-wrestling. We were just messing around, pretending to do announcements like in WWE and one of my friends was introducing John Cena,\u201d Lewis Oldfield, 23, told the Sun<\/a> of the story behind his recent legal identity change. \u201cOne thing led to another and they dared me to change my name to John Cena.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bradford, UK, restaurant worker initially considered simply getting inked with the 44-year-old professional wrestler\u2019s name, but then boldly decided to fully commit to completing the dare.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI was going to get a tattoo saying it but did this instead. I always follow through with dares so I just did it,\u201d he told the publication, adding \u201cI\u2019m not even a wrestling fan!\u201d<\/p>\n

In order to settle his ridiculous vow, Oldfield had to do much more than stumble into a tattoo parlor: In a very sober series<\/a> of events, he paid $55 and filled out six legal documents as required to legally change his name in the eyes of his bank, among other organizations. Taking it one step further, he bought himself a new passport bearing his new title for $104.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His mother, at least, is highly amused.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mum couldn\u2019t stop laughing at me when she found out,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, he has not told his much \u201cmore serious\u201d father, although he\u2019ll surely find out soon, especially considering Oldfield has no plans to backtrack on his new moniker.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI actually don\u2019t mind the name so I\u2019m going to keep it,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a totally unrelated but relevant seeming post Sunday, the real John Cena tweeted<\/a> \u201cLook back, love and learn from your past just don\u2019t get stuck living in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Representatives for Cena did not return The Post\u2019s request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
