Together, they will construct\u00a0<span>a gigafactory in Douai, Northern France, in close proximity to the Renault ElectriCity industrial hub.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As per the company, the Douai gigafactory will claim a\u00a0<span>9 GWh capacity in 2024,\u00a0with the aim of reaching 24 GWh by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The alliance plans to produce cost-competitive, low carbon batteries that will help keep EV production local.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It will also focus on energy storage, battery reuse, smart\u00a0charging, and closed-loop recycling to support the Renault Group achieve carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Verkor\"><\/span>Verkor<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The second alliance involves French start-up Verkor, which specializes in battery cell development.<\/p>\n<p>The Group will <span>become a shareholder with a stake of over 20%, and the two companies will collaborate on developing a high-performance battery, suitable for Renault\u2019s C and higher range segments, as well as for the Alpine models.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The initial investment phase will target\u00a0<span>a pilot line for battery cell and module prototyping and production in France in 2022. In a later stage,\u00a0Verkor is set to create the first gigafactory for high performance batteries in the country, starting with a capacity of 10 GWh from 2026, and potentially reaching 20 GWh by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the Group\u2019s statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The combination of these two partnerships with Renault\u00a0ElectriCity\u00a0industrial\u00a0cluster\u00a0will create nearly 4,500 direct jobs in France by 2030,\u00a0while developing\u00a0a robust battery manufacturing ecosystem in the heart of Europe.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With other automakers such as Volvo and Volkswagen eyeing the establishment of their own EV battery gigafactories in the old continent, it seems that Europe will indeed be the \u201cnext big thing\u201d in battery production.\u00a0<span>So the French car maker should hurry up the \u201crenaulution\u201d if they want to stay ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><i>Do EVs excite<\/i><i>\u00a0your electrons?
