We need to do the same in crypto.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Armstrong estimated there is now \u201c[tens] of billions of dollars of economic activity running on DApps.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The post also emphasized Coinbase\u2019s commitment to expanding the number of crypto assets it supports and increasing the speed of new listings, announcing plans to reduce its legal review for prospective listings and launch an \u201c\u2018experimental zone\u2019 for new assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The legal review process will be reduced from 70 questions to 12.<\/p>\n<p>While noting that many assets may not meet Coinbase\u2019s criteria to be listed for trading due to regulatory reasons, the exchange believes it can provide basic wallet functionality such as custody and transfer services for \u201cmost assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The exchange also states the Coinbase app will soon support \u201cany app built on decentralized crypto rails,\u201d suggesting the exchange\u2019s users may soon be able to interact with the burgeoning DeFi ecosystem through Coinbase\u2019s application.<\/p>\n<p>Armstrong also highlighted Coinbase\u2019s desire to become a \u201cglobal\u201d company. While the post characterizes Coinbase as currently focusing on delivering its products within \u201ca narrow set of regions,\u201d the exchange hopes to launch new products \u201cin most countries by default\u201d moving forward.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><em>Germany\u2019s financial watchdog approves crypto custody license for Coinbase<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Coinbase\u2019s new plans come as regulators are increasingly taking aim at globally operating crypto exchanges, with the United Kingdom\u2019s Financial Conduct Authority ordering Binance to cease all \u201cregulated activities\u201d in the jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to a broader crypto crackdown in China, Huobi banned Chinese users from accessing its derivatives products, in addition to retail traders from the U.K.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the financial regulator of the Canadian province of Ontario accused Bybit and Kucoin of violating local securities laws, with Bybit also coming under fire from Japan\u2019s Financial Services Agency the following month.<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
