Elon Musk lashed out at US rocket launch regulations, calling them \u201cbroken\u201d after SpaceX\u2019s latest mission was delayed due to an aircraft that entered the launch zone.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, launch is called off for today, as an aircraft entered the \u2018keep out zone\u2019, which is unreasonably gigantic,\u201d Musk wrote Tuesday afternoon in a tweet. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere is simply no way that humanity can become a spacefaring civilization without major regulatory reform. The current regulatory system is broken,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s far from the first time that Musk has taken aim at regulators. <\/p>\n

After a test flight for SpaceX\u2019s Starship, which the company hopes will one day take humans to Mars, was delayed in January, Musk similarly lashed out at the Federal Aviation Administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnlike its aircraft division, which is fine, the FAA space division has a fundamentally broken regulatory structure,\u201d Musk tweeted then. \u201cTheir rules are meant for a handful of expendable launches per year from a few government facilities. Under those rules, humanity will never get to Mars.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond the FAA, Musk has also clashed with other government agencies. <\/p>\n

He hung up on the head of the National Transportation Safety Board in 2018 during a phone call about a fatal car crash involving a Tesla Model X,\u00a0Bloomberg<\/a>\u00a0reported. <\/p>\n

And another of Musk\u2019s companies, Tesla, had to settle a case with the SEC in 2018 that\u00a0alleged Musk had committed fraud\u00a0by tweeting that he had \u201cfunding secured\u201d to take the company private at $420 a share.<\/p>\n

But despite the sometimes public clashes with regulators, Musk took to Twitter<\/a> in April to say that he agrees with them \u201c99.9% of the time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
