the developed and developing worlds.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       The U.S. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#vaccinations\" class=\"icon none\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u2019s vaccine tracker<\/a> is showing that 154.2 million people, equal to 46.4% of the population, are fully vaccinated, meaning they have had two shots of the vaccines developed by Pfizer<br \/>\n        PFE,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202877789\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.28%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       with German partner BioNTech<br \/>\n        BNTX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/214419716\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-1.73%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       or Moderna<br \/>\n        MRNA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" The highly infectious delta variant that was first detected in India is now in 96 countries, said WHO.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlobally, COVID-19 incidence remains very high with an average of over 370 000 cases reported each day over the past week,\u201d the agency said in its weekly Epidemiological Update. <\/p>\n<p>The Africa region recorded a 33% increase in cases in the latest week and a 42% rise in mortality. The Eastern Mediterranean and European regions also saw increases in cases. Dr. Rochelle Walensky told NBC\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d show that the WHO is making guidelines for the entire world and bases its decisions on what\u2019s best for everyone, including many unvaccinated people, as the delta variant surges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>See now: <\/strong>WHO says delta variant of COVID means even vaccinated people should keep wearing face masks, as more Asian cities lock down<\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSo as the WHO makes those recommendations, they do so in that context,\u201d she said. \u201cHere in the United States, we\u2019re fortunate. We have three vaccines that we know are safe and effective. The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> is a turnabout, as North Korea has said until now it has had zero COVID cases, despite sharing a porous border with China.\u00a0Experts widely doubt the claim and are concerned about any potential outbreak, given the country\u2019s poor health infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>In Australia, the town of Alice Springs, located in the middle of the Outback by the Unesco World Heritage\u2013listed rock formation Uluru, joined four major cities in locking down to prevent the spread of the delta variant, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/sydneys-covid-19-cases-rise-four-australian-cities-lockdown-2021-06-30\/\" class=\"icon none\">Reuters reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Darwin have already locked down as the country fights clusters of cases and works to accelerate a vaccine program that has inoculated less than 5% of the population of about 20 million adults. <\/p>\n<p>In medical news, Sinovac Biotech Ltd. said a Phase 1\/2 clinical trial of its COVID-19 vaccine in children and adolescents between the ages of 3 and 17 demonstrated that the shot is safe and produced a strong antibody response, according to a\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/laninf\/article\/PIIS1473-3099(21)00319-4\/fulltext\" class=\"icon none\">study<\/a>\u00a0published Monday in the Lancet Infectious Diseases medical journal. <\/p>\n<p>The double-blind, randomized trial involved 552 participants and included a placebo, using two doses spaced 28 days apart. The study is the first involving children as young as 3 years old.
