Britney Spears\u2019 father James \u201cJamie\u201d Spears has called for an investigation into some of the singer\u2019s claims during a conservatorship hearing last week, The New York Times<\/em><\/a> reports. The statements in question include Britney Spears\u2019 allegations that she was made to perform and take medication against her will while under the conservatorship.<\/p>\n

According to court documents viewed by the Times<\/em>, lawyers for Jamie Spears have requested an evidentiary hearing, calling Britney\u2019s current personal conservator, Jodi Montgomery, as well as her court-app<\/a>ointed lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III into question. Jamie Spears\u2019 lawyers reportedly wrote that \u201cit is critical that the Court confirm whether or not Ms. Spears\u2019s testimony was accurate in order to determine what corrective actions, if any, need to be taken.\u201d The documents were filed late Tuesday (June 29) in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

While Jamie Spears has helmed the conservatorship since 2008, Jodi Montgomery was assigned as Britney\u2019s personal conservator on an ongoing temporary basis in 2019. Jamie stepped down, citing health issues. In documents viewed by the Times<\/em>, Jamie Spears\u2019 lawyers claim that Montgomery had been \u201cfully in charge of Ms. Spears\u2019s day-to-day personal care and medical treatment\u201d since September 2019. The Times<\/em> points out that some of Britney\u2019s claims predate Montgomery acting as personal conservator.<\/p>\n

Jodi Montgomery\u2019s lawyer Lauriann Wright told the Times<\/em> that Montgomery had \u201cbeen a tireless advocate for Britney and for her well-being,\u201d with \u201cone primary goal\u2014to assist and encourage Britney in her path to no longer needing a conservatorship of the person.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the allegations brought up in Britney\u2019s hearing were claims that she was not allowed to remove her birth control device, get married, or have more children. In the new documents, Jamie Spears\u2019 lawyers said: \u201cMr. Spears is simply not involved in any decisions related to Ms. Spears\u2019s personal care or medical or reproductive issues,\u201d according to the Times<\/em>. \u201cMr. Spears is unable to hear and address his daughter\u2019s concerns directly because he has been cut off from communicating with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wright also told the Times<\/em> that Britney\u2019s \u201cchoice to marry and to start a family have never been impacted by the conservatorship while Ms. Montgomery has been conservator of the person.\u201d<\/p>\n

The documents also reportedly raise concerns about Britney Spears\u2019 court-appointed lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III, as well as Montgomery\u2019s placement in her current position. They note that \u201cMs. Spears neither signed nor verified\u201d the petition to make Montgomery her personal conservator; the petition was signed by Ingham.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
