\u201cWilly Wonka and the Chocolate Factory\u201d premiered 50 years ago on June 30, 1971 and gained a cult following over the years. <\/p>\n

The film has become such a phenomenon that it was registered in the United States\u00a0National Film Registry\u00a0by the\u00a0Library of Congress\u00a0for being deemed \u201cculturally, historically or aesthetically significant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former child actors Peter Ostrum,\u00a0Julie Dawn Cole,\u00a0Michael Bollner,\u00a0Paris Themmen and Denise Nickerson \u2014 who played Charlie Bucket, Veruca Salt, Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee and Violet Beauregarde respectively \u2014 app<\/a>eared for a virtual reunion for Yahoo Entertainment<\/a> in honor of the film\u2019s anniversary. <\/p>\n

The actors, who co-starred as the four lucky Golden Ticket winners who get to explore the wonderous Wonka Chocolate Factory, all had fond memories of exploring the whimsical film sets in Bavarian Germany and working with\u00a0Gene Wilder. But they did reveal who the legendary comic thought was as annoying as their character.<\/p>\n

Since shooting the movie, Themmen has been labeled a \u201cnotorious troublemaker on the set,\u201d with Wilder calling him \u201ca handful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can corroborate that,\u201d the actor, known for playing the television-obsessed rascal Mike Teavee, confirmed. \u201cI was younger than the others. I was 11, they were 13 and was naturally just sort of more high-spirited and rambunctious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Years after filming, the now-62-year-old had one brief reunion with Wilder while attending a fund-raiser screening of Wilder\u2019s 1976 hit\u00a0\u201cSilver Streak\u201d\u00a0at the Avon Theatre in Stamford, Connecticut, where\u00a0the famous actor confirmed his feelings.<\/p>\n
