It\u2019s now slated for a theatrical release on <strong><span class=\"style-scope yt-formatted-string\" dir=\"auto\">August 13, 2021<\/span><\/strong>. As of now, 20th Century Studios will be sending the movie exclusively to theaters on that date, and it won\u2019t be released on streaming until after its theatrical run is finished.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Free_Guy\"><\/span><strong>What is <\/strong><strong>Free Guy<\/strong><strong>?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Inspired by wildly violent open-world video games like <em>Grand Theft Auto<\/em>, <em>Free Guy<\/em> follows a non-playable background character in a video game who is suddenly awoken from his daily bank teller routine and tasked with saving his video game world from being destroyed. It\u2019s like <em>The Truman Show<\/em> meets <em>Wreck-It Ralph<\/em> with some of <em>Last Action Hero<\/em> and <em>The Matrix<\/em> thrown in for good measure. So there\u2019s a lot going on here, but in a fun blockbuster kind of way.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Free_Guy_Synopsis\"><\/span><strong>Free Guy<\/strong><strong> Synopsis<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Here\u2019s the synopsis for <em>Free Guy<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In \u201cFree Guy,\u201d a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story\u2026one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way\u2026before it is too late.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Free_Guy_Director_Crew_and_More\"><\/span><strong>Free Guy <\/strong><strong>Director, Crew, and More<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Free Guy<\/em> is directed by <strong>Shawn Levy<\/strong>, who previously helmed the entire <em>Night at the Museum<\/em> franchise and the robot boxing movie <em>Real Steel<\/em>, as well as the comedies <em>The Internship<\/em> and <em>Date Night<\/em>. Levy is also an executive producer and director on <strong><em>Stranger Things<\/em><\/strong>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> is written by <strong>Matt Lieberman<\/strong> (<em>The Christmas Chronicles<\/em>, <em>Scoob!<\/em>) and <strong>Zak Penn<\/strong> (<em>The Avengers<\/em>, <em>X2: X-Men United<\/em>). For his part, Levy hopes the movie reflects a lot about how we lived in 2020:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s like all of us have felt stuck in a loop, and all of us have felt like a background character in someone else\u2019s story. And this idea of, like, stop living in the background, or notice the person in the background. Empathize with the person in the background. That\u2019s a big part of the themes that play in this movie, and while they\u2019re called NPCs, non-player characters and it\u2019s set in a video game, the movie is really not about video games as much as it is about being a person in the world and how you choose to live.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 --><\/p>\n<p>Ryan Reynolds is also a producer on the movie, and he thinks it\u2019s the best film he\u2019s made yet.\u00a0Reynolds said previously:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI do think it\u2019s the best moviemaking experience that I\u2019ve ever had easily, but also I think [it\u2019s] the best movie I\u2019ve ever done. You know, it\u2019s the most pertinent to our times, in that sense. Where I feel <em>Deadpool<\/em> was like a movie that was pertinent to the comic book culture when it came out, this really, to me, speaks to a broader kind of spectrum of where we are in the world, and not only that, but how we are in the world. I think that\u2019s one of the reasons I think it\u2019s my favorite movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Free Guy<\/em> also comes with a score by <strong>Christophe Becke<\/strong>, who composed the music for <em>Frozen<\/em>, <em>WandaVision<\/em>, and <em>Edge of Tomorrow<\/em>, just to name a few.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Free_Guy_Cast\"><\/span><strong>Free Guy<\/strong><strong> Cast<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Free Guy<\/em> stars <strong>Ryan Reynolds<\/strong> as the film\u2019s main character, a video game bank teller named Guy, and of course he brings all of his sarcastic charm with him. <strong>Jodie Comer<\/strong> (<em>Killing Eve<\/em>) plays the badass video game character Molotov Girl, who breaks Guy from his background character routine. She also portrays Millie, the gamer who controls her in the real world.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Taika Waititi<\/strong> (<em>What We Do in the Shadows<\/em>,<em> Thor: Ragnarok<\/em>) plays the douchebag video game creator who is trying to shut the whole thing down for some reason. This should be a fun role for Waititi to play around with, and there will apparently be roughly 20 minutes of alternate jokes he improvised on set that will be cut into a special feature for the movie\u2019s home video release.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_3 --><strong>Joe Keery<\/strong> (<em>Stranger Things<\/em>), <strong>Lil Rel Howery<\/strong> (<em>Get Out<\/em>), and <strong>Utkarsh Ambudkar<\/strong> (<em>Pitch Perfect<\/em>) all have supporting roles in the movie. There will also be cameo appearances by <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> gaming personalities such as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Jacksepticeye\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jacksepticeye\">Jacksepticeye<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Ninja (gamer)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ninja_(gamer)\">Ninja<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pokimane\">Pokimane<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"DanTDM\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/DanTDM\">DanTDM<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"LazarBeam\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/LazarBeam\">LazarBeam<\/a>.
