Let\u2019s go with the new batch of actors just reported to be joining Amazon\u2019s crown jewel <strong><em>Lord of the Rings<\/em><\/strong> series\u00a0(though we should really stop referring to it by that name) for its first season. Clearly, this show won\u2019t let a silly little thing like \u201cfilming\u201d (it has been in production since early 2020, mind you) stop it from adding to its ever-expanding roster.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Cast\"><\/span>The Cast<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/amazon-lord-of-the-rings-tv-series-cast-1234976309\/\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, joining the cast are <strong>Charles Edwards<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Downton Abbey<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Crown<\/em>), <strong>Will Fletcher<\/strong> (<em>The Girl Who Fell<\/em>), and fresh faces\u00a0<strong>Amelie Child-Villiers<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Beau Cassidy<\/strong>. Naturally, precise details as to their respective roles are being kept hidden in the shadows (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/IcYPWM5ukU8?t=104\">scared of who you are, of what you are, etc.<\/a>). At the very least, however, we can confidently go out on a limb and say that with such an extremely English background and ingrained aura to him, Edwards will fit right in with the heavily Anglo-Saxon inspired world of Middle-earth. Beyond that, well, your guesses are as good as ours.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Seriously though, we know that the Amazon series will be exploring a vast, previously-unseen epoch in <em>Lord of the Rings<\/em> history\u00a0that far predates the events of the films. Canonically unconnected with\u00a0<strong>Peter Jackson\u2019s<\/strong> trilogy, the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> of Thrones<\/em>-esque epic has an exciting blank slate with which to redefine our conceptions of the world while adding a whole host of adapted and brand-new characters. In an interview with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/lord-of-the-rings-amazon-series-benjamin-walker-interview\/\">Collider<\/a> (via <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/amazon-lord-of-the-rings-actor-no-idea-when-season-one-finishes-filming\">IGN<\/a>),\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Walker<\/strong>\u00a0(no, don\u2019t even ask, nobody knows who the <em>Underground Railroad<\/em>, <em>Jessica Jones<\/em>, and <em>Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter<\/em> actor is\u00a0playing on this show either) opened up and spilled some choice details regarding the grueling production of this massive, wildly expensive saga currently filming in New Zealand. Some might say it sounds somewhat\u2026 distressing? Like, Merry and Pippin being captured by Uruk-Hai levels of distressing?<\/p>\n<p>For one thing, Walker doesn\u2019t seem to know <em>how long<\/em> he\u2019ll even be in New Zealand for.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is a bit nebulous at this point. We\u2019ve been here a long time and they\u2019ll let us go when they\u2019re done with us.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->We\u2019ve all had jobs where every workday is a grind and the days start to blend together until we no longer have any concept of time anymore, but it feels kind of notable that this quote regarding something as basic as a filming schedule sounds more like a cry for help instead.<\/p>\n<p>Not to be outdone, Walker further adds to the chaos as he describes his audition process. Get this: while waiting for a callback, showrunner <strong>J.D. Payne<\/strong>\u00a0finally got in touch with Walker to offer some more details about the role. The catch? Payne was at the hospital as his wife was about to go into labor. For Walker\u2019s part, this is actually what helped him decide to accept the role.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c[Payne]\u2019s got the level of commitment you\u2019re going to need to get this show to be where it should be.
