You tell me <strong>Vicky Krieps<\/strong> has a major part in a new movie, and I will absolutely make sure that I watch that movie. It\u2019s as straightforward as that. Hot off her role in <strong>M. Night Shyamalan\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0upcoming horror\/thriller <em><strong>Old<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and after her performance in <strong>Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s<\/strong> masterful <em><strong>Phantom Thread,<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Krieps is literally the only person who matters who\u2019ll be starring in the soon-to-be-released Netflix movie,\u00a0<em><strong>Beckett<\/strong><\/em>. Okay, okay, <em>fine<\/em>, we\u2019re also plenty excited about <strong>John David Washington<\/strong> continuing his recent stretch of leading man roles and <strong>Alicia Vikander<\/strong> joining him as his character\u2019s girlfriend.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, you can check out the trailer right now.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Beckett_Trailer\"><\/span>Beckett Trailer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post --><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Beckett | Official Trailer | Netflix\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EPT_PNucTWE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The film\u2019s plot is as follows: \u201cFollowing a tragic car accident in Greece, Beckett, an American tourist, finds himself at the center of a dangerous political conspiracy \u2013 and on the run for his life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Italian filmmaker\u00a0<strong>Ferdinando Cito Filomarino\u00a0\u2014<\/strong>\u00a0who has previously served as second unit director for\u00a0<strong>Luca\u00a0Guadagnino<\/strong> (<em><strong>A Bigger Splash<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<em><strong>Call Me By Your Name<\/strong>,<strong> Suspiria<\/strong><\/em>) \u2014 and from a screenplay by\u00a0<strong>Kevin A. Rice<\/strong>, <em>Beckett<\/em>\u00a0was previously announced in Netflix\u2019s 2021 Summer Movie Preview\u00a0though no release date was set at the time.<\/p>\n<p>If you remember, earlier this year Netflix promised (threatened?) to drop at least one original movie per week throughout the course of 2021. Some highly-anticipated films fizzled out completely, while others certainly lived up to expectations. While a compelling trailer is no guarantee of the final product, consider us thoroughly hyped for the potential of this twisty thriller set in Greece.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously we all know what Krieps brings to the table, but Washington and Vikander are far from strangers to the action genre. Washington, of course, most recently added his talents to Christopher Nolan\u2019s incomprehensibly fun <em><strong>Tenet<\/strong><\/em>, while Vikander has proved her action chops with\u00a0<em><strong>Tomb Raider<\/strong><\/em>. Hopefully, Vikander\u2019s role will be rather larger than it\u2019s implied to be in this trailer, but things look rather promising nonetheless.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 --><em>Beckett<\/em>\u00a0is set for release on Netflix on <strong>August 13, 2021<\/strong>.
