Noah Centineo<\/strong>, the rom-com heartthrob male lead of Netflix\u2019s To All the Boys<\/em> movies<\/a>, is stepping into the DC Extended Universe.<\/p>\n

A new report says that the 24-year-old Centineo is joining Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson in Black Adam<\/strong><\/em>, the Shazam!<\/em> spin-off that\u2019s been in development for years at DC and Warner Bros. Find out who he\u2019ll play below.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Centineo is set to star opposite Johnson in Black Adam<\/em> as a character named Albert Rothstein, AKA Atom Smasher, a hero who has the power to alter his molecular structure so he can manipulate his size and strength. (He\u2019s kinda like Marvel\u2019s Ant-Man, but without the suit.) In the comics, the character forms a rivalry with the anti-hero Black Adam, but the two eventually end up leaving the Justice Society of America, an organization which, according to Johnson, will be introduced in this movie. The frenemies end up partnering up, and basically become the devil on each other\u2019s shoulders as they travel<\/a> around killing people who have previously wronged them. Specific details about the movie are scarce, so it\u2019s still unclear how closely the film\u2019s story will hew to the existing comic storylines. This won\u2019t be the first time fans see Atom Smasher in the flesh: he first app<\/a>eared in live-action on The CW\u2019s The Flash<\/em>, where he was played by actor Adam Copeland.<\/p>\n

Centineo is still best known as a swoon-inducing leading man in Netflix movies like To All the Boys<\/em> and The Perfect Date<\/em> (the latter of which, inexplicably, is among the service\u2019s most-watched original films), but he\u2019ll soon make the jump into action hero mode. Last year, he was\u00a0cast as He-Man in Sony\u2019s long-gestating adaptation of Masters of the Universe<\/em>. There\u2019s no word yet on when that project will actually start filming.<\/p>\n

Jaume Collet-Serra<\/strong>, the filmmaker behind Liam Neeson action thrillers like Non-Stop<\/em>, Unknown<\/em>, The Commuter<\/em>, and Run All Night<\/em>, is set to direct. This movie will be Collet-Serra\u2019s second collaboration with Johnson; the two previously worked together on Disney\u2019s Jungle Cruise<\/em>, which was once slated to hit theaters later this month but will now arrive on July 30, 2021. Johnson, Beau Flynn<\/strong>, Dany Garcia<\/strong>, and Hiram Garcia<\/strong> will all produce Black Adam<\/em>, which focuses on the anti-hero who was originally a villain to the heroic Captain Marvel, AKA Shazam.<\/p>\n

Black Adam<\/em> was once scheduled to hit theaters on December 22<\/strong>, 2021<\/strong>, but the coronavirus pandemic has pushed back its filming (and presumably its release date) to an undetermined time. Perhaps we\u2019ll learn more details during next month\u2019s DC\u2019s FanDome, the company\u2019s virtual convention dedicated to DC movies, shows, game<\/a>s, and comics.<\/p>\n
