Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ie<\/em>, is back with\u00a0<strong><em>Demonic<\/em><\/strong>, a mysterious new horror movie. After his big budget efforts,\u00a0<em>Demonic<\/em> has Blomkamp working with a smaller budget, and the results look\u2026intriguing, but vague. The fact of the matter is we still don\u2019t know a whole lot about\u00a0<em>Demonic<\/em>. But I\u2019ve done my best to round up all the info you need before you see the flick this summer.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Demonic_Release_Date_and_Where_You_Can_Watch_It\"><\/span><strong>Demonic Release Date and Where You Can Watch It<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post --><em>Demonic<\/em> is headed to both theaters and On Demand and digital on <strong>August 20, 2021<\/strong>. That gives you plenty of options. You can head out to a theater and witness Neill Blomkamp\u2019s latest on the biggest screen possible. Or, you can watch it from the safety of your own home, and not have to worry about your fellow audience members giving you weird looks when you scream in terror at the jump scares.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Demonic\"><\/span><strong>What is Demonic<\/strong><strong>?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Demonic<\/em> is a new film by Neill Blomkamp. Blomkamp burst onto the scene with\u00a0<em>District 9<\/em>, a sci-fi movie that happened almost by accident. Blomkamp was originally supposed to direct a movie based on the\u00a0<em>Halo<\/em> video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> series. But when that project fell apart, he took some of the material he had gathered for\u00a0<em>Halo<\/em> and worked it into\u00a0<em>District 9<\/em>, a feature-length expansion of his short movie\u00a0<em>Alive in Joburg<\/em>.\u00a0<em>District 9<\/em> became a surprise hit and garnered several Oscar nominations, turning Blomkamp into a major player. He followed\u00a0<em>District 9<\/em> up with 2013\u2019s\u00a0<em>Elysium<\/em>, and while that sci-fi action flick didn\u2019t garner positive reviews like\u00a0<em>District 9<\/em>, it still made money. After that, Blomkamp released\u00a0<em>Chappie<\/em> in 2015. This time, the filmmaker\u2019s work failed to earn good reviews\u00a0<em>or<\/em> good box office, and it kind of put Blomkamp in director\u2019s jail for a few years (although he continued to make short movies).\u00a0<em>Demonic<\/em> will be his first feature film since\u00a0<em>Chappie<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Demonic_Synopsis\"><\/span><strong>Demonic Synopsis<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This one is going to be a tad tough, gang. <em>Demonic<\/em> has a synopsis, but it\u2019s pretty darn vague. Take a look:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>From the director of DISTRICT 9 and ELYSIUM, a young woman unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades old rift between mother and daughter are revealed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Okay! The trailer (which you can see below) hints at some sort of virtual reality subplot, but for the life of me, I can\u2019t figure out what it means. Is this entire movie set in a video game like the bonkers\u00a0<em>Serenity<\/em>, AKA the movie where the big twist is that\u00a0Matthew McConaughey\u2019s character lives inside a fishing video game? I sure hope so. More movies need twists like that.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->\u201cNeill Blomkamp exploded onto the filmmaking scene with <em>District 9<\/em>\u00a0and has made his mark by creating films that challenge and subvert the genre. It\u2019s exciting to work together on this highly anticipated new vision, and be immersed in yet another world terrifyingly similar to our own,\u201d said\u00a0Arianna Bocco, President of IFC Films.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Demonic_Director_Crew_and_More\"><\/span><strong>Demonic Director, Crew, and More<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Demonic<\/em> is written and directed by\u00a0Neill Blomkamp, director of\u00a0<em>District 9<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Elysium<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Chappie<\/em>. Neill Blomkamp, Mike Blomkamp of STABILITi Studios, Stuart Ford, and Linda McDonough of AGC Studios are on board as producers. Serving as executive producers are AGC\u2019s Miguel Palos Jr., Alastair Burlingham, Charlie Dombek, Viktor Muller, and Steven St. Arnaud. Byron Kopman is the film\u2019s cinematographer. Austyn Daines handles the music.\u00a0AGC Studios is the production company, with\u00a0IFC Midnight distributing.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Demonic_Cast\"><\/span><strong>Demonic Cast<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Demonic<\/em> stars <strong>Carly Pope<\/strong> (<em>Popular<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Elysium<\/em>) <strong>Chris William Martin<\/strong> (<em>Supergirl<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Vampire Diaries<\/em>), <strong>Michael Rogers<\/strong> (<em>Siren<\/em>),\u00a0<strong>Nathalie Boltt<\/strong> (<em>District 9<\/em>), and<strong> Terry Chen<\/strong> (<em>Elysium<\/em>). The film appears to have a small-ish cast, suggesting something intimate, which will be a change of pace from Blomkamp\u2019s big budget previous work.
