\n One person was killed and three others injured \u2014 two of them seriously \u2014 in a scaffolding collapse Thursday afternoon in Midtown Manhattan, according to FDNY sources.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just how the 4:30 p.m. collapse unfolded wasn\u2019t immedia<\/a>tely clear, but photographs of the aftermath on East 36th Street near Lexington Avenue show the sidewalk shed scaffolding sinking under the weight of debris, including what app<\/a>ear to be bricks.<\/p>\n

Above it, a movable platform \u2014 similar to that used for window-washing \u2014 dangled, the cables on one side apparently having given way.<\/span><\/p>\n

One person was dead, and three others injured, according to FDNY sources.<\/p>\n

Of the survivors, two sustained serious injuries, while the third\u2019s wounds were deemed non-life-threatening.<\/p>\n

The deadly incident occurred just blocks away and hour after a vacant building partially collapsed into a neighboring construction site.<\/p>\n
