President Biden warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that the US \u201cwill respond\u201d if the Motherland was behind Friday\u2019s mass cyberattack that hit at least 200 companies at the start of the Independence Day weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not sure who it is,\u201d Biden told reporters Saturday as he bought three fruit pies and a bag of cherry sodas at King Orchards, a family-owned cherry farm in Central Lake, Mich.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe initial thinking was it was not the Russian government,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut if it is Russia, I told Putin we will respond,\u201d he said \u2013 referring to the two leaders\u2019 summit meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, last month.<\/p>\n

Biden specified that he has not spoken to the Russian president since being briefed on the ransomware attack, which cyber-security firm Huntress Labs has blamed on the Russia-linked REvil ransomware gang.<\/p>\n

Biden was in Michigan as part of a tour to mark the end of pandemic restrictions \u2014 and to tout his administration\u2019s free-spending economic plans.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
