With this menu, you can quickly change the system volume, screen brightness, communications options, and more. To bring it up, you can click the volume and Wi-Fi status icons in the taskbar beside the date and time. In Windows 11, the taskbar always lives along the bottom edge of the screen, and you can\u2019t move it. In Windows 11, you can\u2019t resize the taskbar at all. Without labels and with wide resolutions these days, that\u2019s not so much of a problem. But if you completely fill up the taskbar with apps, they start stacking up on top of each other in a special section on the right side of the taskbar. This feature is off by default in the Windows 11 Preview, but you can enable it if you turn on \u201cShow badges (unread messages counter) on taskbar apps\u201d in Settings &gt; Personalization &gt; Taskbar &gt; Taskbar Behaviors. The line will only appear if you hold your mouse cursor over it. In Windows 12, will this \u201cbutton\u201d become a single pixel in size? In the Windows 11 Preview, all of these icons are permanently hidden behind a small carat arrow located just to the left of the Quick Settings button. In Settings, Microsoft calls this the \u201coverflow area.\u201d There\u2019s currently no way to show them on the taskbar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>Did You Know? Windows Has Never Had a &#8220;System Tray&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Other_Miscellaneous_Taskbar_Changes\"><\/span>Other Miscellaneous Taskbar Changes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Aside from the changes listed above, there are even more <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/windows-11-specifications\">according to Microsoft<\/a> and our testing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There\u2019s no Search box in the taskbar.<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s no Cortana button in the taskbar.<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s no <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> and Interests button. This has been replaced with a widgets button.<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s no \u201cPeople\u201d option in the taskbar.<\/li>\n<li>Clicking the date and time shows a list of your notifications as well as a calendar.<\/li>\n<li>When Focus Assist is enabled, you\u2019ll see a crescent moon icon beside the clock.<\/li>\n<li>Apps are no longer allowed to customize areas of the taskbar (although this didn\u2019t happen often in Windows 10).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That\u2019s quite a few changes if you think about it, proving that Windows 11 is a substantial new version of Windows and not just a cosmetic revision to Windows 10. Even some of the taskbar restrictions put in place seem to be aimed at improving usability, perhaps in touch or tablet mode.
