\n Critical race theory \u2014 the far-left academic discourse centered on the concepts of \u201cwhiteness,\u201d \u201cwhite fragility\u201d and \u201cwhite privilege\u201d \u2014 is coursing through the federal government\u2019s veins. Under a GOP \u00adadministration, no less.<\/p>\n

Last month, a private diversity-consulting firm conducted a training titled \u201cDifficult Conversations About Race in Troubling Times\u201d for several federal agencies. The training called on white employees at the Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the National Credit Union Administration and the Office of the Comptroller to pledge \u201callyship [sic] amid the \u00adGeorge Floyd Tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a trove of whistleblower documents I\u2019ve reviewed, the training begins with the premise that \u201cvirtually all white people contribute to racism\u201d and hold narratives that \u201cdon\u2019t support the dismantling of racist institutions.\u201d Therefore, the trainers argue, white federal employees must \u201cstruggle to own their racism\u201d and \u201cinvest in race-based growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trainers then ask \u201cwhite managers\u201d to create \u201csafe spaces,\u201d where black employees can explain \u201cwhat it means to be black\u201d and to be \u201cseen in their pain.\u201d White staffers are instructed to keep silent and to \u201csit in the discomfort\u201d of their racism. If any conflicts arise, the trainers \u00adinsist that whites \u201cdon\u2019t get to decide when someone is being too emotional, too rash [or] too mean.\u201d Whites are told they can\u2019t protest if a person of color \u201cresponds to their oppression in a way [they] don\u2019t like.\u201d<\/p>\n

Howard Ross, the consultant who created the training, has been a fixture in what might be called the \u00addiversity-industrial complex. Since 2006, he has billed the feds more than $5 million for trainings.<\/p>\n

In 2011, he billed the General<\/a> Services Administration $3 million for \u201cconsulting services.\u201d NASA coughed up $500,000 for \u201cpower and privilege sexual-orientation workshops.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is somewhat distasteful but crucially important to note that Ross is a white man. He has a bachelor\u2019s degree in history but pitches himself as an expert in \u201cneuro-cognitive and social<\/a>-science<\/a> research\u201d and has spent the past three decades selling the \u00adunscientific snake oil of \u201cunconscious bias.\u201d<\/p>\n

The irony: Ross has used his own privilege to enrich himself at taxpayer expense. In the language of his own discourse, he has monetized collective black pain to create individual white profit.<\/p>\n

Incredibly, Ross and his colleagues in the diversity-industrial complex have only expanded their footprint under the Trump administration. Since President Trump\u2019s inauguration, Ross himself has done at least 17 trainings for federal agencies, including the Justice Department, the National Institutes of Health and the \u00adOffice of the Attorney General. The permanent bureaucracy knows that it can ignore the priorities of any one commander-in-chief \u2014 and continue to remake US institutions in its own ideological image.<\/p>\n

The larger goal is explicit: The diversity app<\/a>aratchiks want to convert \u201ceveryone in the federal government\u201d to the work of \u201canti-racism.\u201d While that sounds innocuous, it emphatically is not what most Americans understand by the term. \u201cAnti-racism,\u201d as the diversity hustlers define it, doesn\u2019t teach Americans to judge each other according to the contents of their character. Rather, the ideology stands for precisely the opposite: a rigid and simplistic account of race, in which minorities are permanent victims and whites are forever tainted by racism.<\/p>\n

By promoting this toxic nonsense, activist bureaucrats seek to transform the federal government into power centers for this new racial orthodoxy.<\/p>\n

As documents from the Treasury Department reveal, the new orthodoxy won\u2019t be contained in the workplace. At the end of the training, Ross instructs federal employees to \u201ctalk to [their] children about race,\u201d because \u201cbias begins to take shape in our brains [when we\u2019re] around 3 years old.\u201d It\u2019s easy to see where it goes from here: a nonstop sequence of diversity seminars, trainings and curricula from preschool to graduate school and beyond \u2014 all of it naturally good for Ross\u2019 bank account.<\/p>\n

What can be done? First, the Senate Finance Committee should immediately launch a probe into the Treasury Department training and Ross\u2019 massive contracts. Second, Trump should issue an executive order banning federal agencies from teaching the toxic principles of critical race theory, race essentialism and neo-segregationism. And the rest of us must brace for a long war against the diversity-industrial complex and its profiteers.<\/p>\n
