Architecture Photo has uploaded a post<\/a> about a new MAPPA office designed by architect Akira Koyama and his Key Operation Inc. company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Architecture Photo tweet claimed that the new office\u2019s design was conscious of providing an improved work environment and paid attention to elements like the selection of desk material and a lounge space. The building has a total floor space of 468m\u00b2. Like the main MAPPA office, it is situated in Suginami City.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chainsaw Man<\/em> director Ry\u016b Nakayama\u00a0said in a retweet<\/a> that the anime<\/a> is being produced at this new office, which was completed in June. However, it is unknown how much of the production is being handled at the location.<\/span><\/p>\n

Architecture Photo\u2019s post about MAPPA\u2019s new office happens to come days after the animation studio\u2019s shortcomings were highlighted on July 2. Anime News Network reported<\/a> that an animator had been paid $250 yen (~$2) \u201cfor in-between animation at a subcontracting studio for a film project made by \u2018the company that recently made a viral PV.’\u201d The animator\u2019s tweet had been made the day after the release of the Chainsaw Man<\/em> anime\u2019s teaser, which has almost seven million views at the time of writing. An animation director for Mars Red<\/em> replied<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cthat company\u201d looked down on in-between animation and painting.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main subject of the ANN report was another animator who spoke out against the low rates paid to animators for a Netflix anime produced at MAPPA. Although they later added that their issue was with Netflix, Sakuga Blog\u2019s Kevin Cirugeda noted <\/a>\u2014 in a thread that also highlighted various other MAPPA shortcomings \u2014 that MAPPA\u2019s management had asked them to delete the tweet (which is still available at the time of writing).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In May, ANN reported that a freelance animator who worked on Attack on Titan: The Final Season<\/em> had left MAPPA due to terrible work conditions<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
