Aldis Hodge said that revisiting the world of \u201cLeverage\u201d for the show\u2019s revival was \u201csurreal.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how many times in anyone\u2019s career they get a chance to return to a show they started years ago,\u201d Hodge, 34, told the Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been ten years since we shot the last season. [The cast] always stayed in touch, this is just the first time we\u2019ve been together in person on set in a while. For me, I had to recall who and what the character was that I created.\u201d<\/p>\n

Premiering July 9 on IMDbTV (Amazon\u2019s free streamer), \u201cLeverage: Redemption\u201d is a revival of the TNT series<\/a> \u201cLeverage\u201d that aired from 2008-2012. The action crime drama followed a group of people with unique skills who help ordinary citizens fight back against injustices from corporations and governments. \u201cLeverage: Redemption\u201d brings the team back eight years later, sans Nate (Timothy Hutton), whose absence is immedia<\/a>tely explained in the first episode. There\u2019s hacker Alec Hardison (Hodge), hitter Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane), grifter Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman) and thief Parker (Beth Riesgraf). The revival also adds some new faces to the team, including reformed corporate lawyer Harry Wilson (Noah Wyle) and\u00a0Breanna Casey (Aleyse Shannon), Hardison\u2019s computer-savvy foster sister.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody is fantastic,\u201d said Hodge. \u201cOddly enough I worked with Noah when I was like 12 years old on \u2018ER.\u2019 And Aleyse\u00a0is hilarious and has great energy. I want people to keep an eye on her; she\u2019s a rising star.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite having a wide range of movies and shows under his belt, Hodge said that \u201cLeverage\u201d is still the project that fans app<\/a>roach him about the most.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe love for this show \u2014 I have never seen anything like it. I think it\u2019s awesome. Fans typically ask me,\u00a0\u2018When is it coming back?\u2019 and now I finally have an answer.\u201d<\/p>\n

He attributes the show\u2019s cult following to its premise of fighting for the underdog.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOftentimes, people tell us about feeling hopeless but then watching the show and getting into the fun nature of these guys getting justice for the little guy. I think people tie their personal journeys of dealing with tough times to our show. And to me, that\u2019s the highest honor that we could be bestowed by our audience. I take that quite seriously.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hodge started on the first season of \u201cLeverage\u201d when he was only 20. Since it ended, he\u2019s become a star, appearing in movies such as \u201cStraight Outta Compton,\u201d \u201cHidden Figures,\u201d and \u201cOne Night In Miami.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a privilege that comes along with being able to grow in your career and then when something like this comes back around, you still step into it because of love and the dedication,\u201d he said. \u201cI can just do this job knowing it\u2019s purely to enjoy myself. There\u2019s a nice ease to it that rarely has been afforded to me in my career. It teaches me about the value of what it is that we do as artists. People have been asking for this show consistently and loyally for 10 years! That\u2019s unreal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hodge\u2019s resume is nonstop today: in addition to \u201cLeverage: Redemption\u201d he\u2019s also starring in Showtime\u2019s \u201890s era police drama \u201cCity on a Hill,\u201d(renewed for a third season), he\u2019s developing an anime<\/a> series (\u201cIt\u2019s an original idea that I came up with myself \u2014 I\u2019ve got to sell it first, that\u2019s the plan\u201d ), he\u2019s starring in and producing the film \u201cParallel Forest\u201d with his brother Edwin Hodge<\/a>, and he\u2019s co-starring in the superhero blockbuster \u201cBlack Adam\u201d with Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson (slated to hit theaters in July of 2022).<\/p>\n

\u201c[Dwayne Johnson] is a real cool cat, he\u2019s really giving and supportive. We\u2019re having some tough days when it comes to the physical aspect of [the shoot] and how we want to show what these characters are capable of,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s nice to be around DJ and his camp. Everybody is swole and fit; it\u2019s great motivation to stay in shape and to find new limits that your body can achieve. I look at this [movie] as a huge opportunity in many different ways. And it\u2019s living up to the hype \u2014 in every way possible.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
