{"id":292492,"date":"2021-07-07T02:48:38","date_gmt":"2021-07-06T23:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/brad-lander-solidifies-top-spot-over-corey-johnson-in-dem-comptroller-primary\/"},"modified":"2021-07-07T02:48:38","modified_gmt":"2021-07-06T23:48:38","slug":"brad-lander-solidifies-top-spot-over-corey-johnson-in-dem-comptroller-primary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/brad-lander-solidifies-top-spot-over-corey-johnson-in-dem-comptroller-primary\/","title":{"rendered":"#Brad Lander solidifies top spot over Corey Johnson in Dem comptroller primary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Brad Lander solidifies top spot over Corey Johnson in Dem comptroller primary<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Brooklyn Councilman Brad Lander held on to his lead over City Council Speaker Corey Johnson with the absentee ballots factored in for the Democratic primary race for comptroller, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/web.enrboenyc.us\/rcv\/024314_10.html\">unofficial results<\/a> released Tuesday by the Board of Elections. <\/p>\n<p>The left-wing Lander, who represents Park Slope and surrounding neighborhoods, maintained his separation from the pack and earned 51.9 percent of the vote in the 10th round of ranked-choice voting, while Johnson garnered 48.1 percent in second place.<\/p>\n<p>Lander\u2019s new 24,683-vote margin comes after the initial ranked-choice voting tabulation, which did not include the more than 125,000 absentee ballots, showed Lander with a 3.8 percent edge over Johnson. That identical edge was maintained with the absentee ballots counted.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Lander claimed victory Tuesday evening. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you New York City! I promise to work hard every single day to build a city that is more just, more equal, and more prepared for the future,\u201d said Lander after the latest tally. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was the most grassroots campaign for comptroller in NYC history \u2014 and I couldn\u2019t be more grateful to everyone who was part of it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m honored to be the Democratic nominee for New York City Comptroller.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnson entered the comptroller race in March, after bowing out of the mayoral race in September, citing mental-health struggles including depression. <\/p>\n<p>Lander, a longtime safe-streets advocate \u2014 who has a habit of speeding in school zones \u2014 was endorsed by US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez along with several other progressives such as city Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. Meanwhile, Johnson was backed by most major city unions, including the teacher\u2019s union, TWU, the union representing transit workers and the powerful Hotel Trades Council.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" alt=\"Brad Lander with Rep.
