\nSecret\u2019s out, bitches!<\/p>\n

Fans may be divided on Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin<\/em> after the first teaser was released in September 2020 (and the OG show\u2019s creator, I. Marlene King<\/strong>, expressed mild saltiness about it), but now that more deetz are coming out, it truly sounds like a show to die for!<\/p>\n

Although the drama \u2014 coming from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa<\/b> and Lindsay Calhoon Bring<\/b>, who both worked on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina<\/i> \u2014 promises to deliver the same kinds of thrills, chills, and cute outfits that the original PLL<\/em> served on the reg, it also promises to be a much scarier show.<\/p>\n

Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon teased that much in joint in a statement about the new show, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re such huge fans of what [original creator] I. Marlene King<\/b> and her iconic cast created, we knew that we had to treat the original series<\/a> as #CANON and do something different. So, we\u2019re leaning into the suspense and horror in this reboot, which hopefully will honor what the fans loved about the hit series, while weaving in new, unexpected elements.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cUnexpected elements\u201d?! Coming from these two writers, it sounds like this reboot might be dabbling in the supernatural! (Can you imagine? A souped up, Jason Voorhees-esque \u201cA\u201d!? Eeeek!)<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Alas, nothing of the sort has been confirmed just yet. So what do<\/em> we know?<\/p>\n

We know that the reboot will take place in present day, 20 years after \u201ca series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart.\u201d Millwood, for those who don\u2019t know, is not Rosewood \u2014 the setting of the OG series \u2014 but still exists in the same PPL<\/em> universe. The logline reads:<\/p>\n

\u201cTwenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls \u2014 a brand-new set of Little Liars \u2014 find themselves tormented by an unknown A<\/b>ssailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago \u2026 as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars<\/i>; Original Sin<\/i>, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars<\/i> universe \u2014 in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Two of those little liars have already been announced\u2026<\/p>\n

Chandler Kinney<\/b>, who has starred in Zombies 2<\/i> and Lethal Weapon<\/i>, is set to play Tabby, an aspiring director and horror movie buff with a big secret.<\/p>\n

Maia Reficco<\/b>, who has spent years in Broadway productions, is playing Noa, a track star working to get her life back to normal after spending a summer in juvenile detention.<\/p>\n

We also know the reboot has been causing some friction with the OG PLL<\/em> fam \u2014 particularly King, who made it clear she wasn\u2019t exactly thrilled when news<\/a> of the reboot first broke, tweeting:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are PLL<\/i> family forever. If we need to declare ourselves #OGPLLFamily then that\u2019s what we\u2019ll do. Staring now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When one follower wrote, \u201cThe bodies aren\u2019t even cold yet,\u201d the Famous in Love<\/i> creator responded to the message:<\/p>\n

\u201cLiterally. They are somewhere in the WB jungle [where PLL was filmed].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Oop\u2026<\/p>\n

Original Sin<\/i> begins production this summer in New York, and will stream exclusively on HBO Max<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
