Yes, prepare for SPOILERS.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>In the 1990s, king of YA horror <strong>R.L. Stine<\/strong> defined an entire generation of genre fans, whether they read <em>Goosebumps<\/em>, <em>Fear Street<\/em>, or both. Now, director <strong>Leigh Janiak<\/strong> (<em>Honeymoon<\/em>) has brought the spirit of Stine\u2019s stories to life with a trilogy of <em><strong>Fear Street<\/strong> <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> releasing on Netflix this month. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Fear Street Part 1: 1994<\/em><\/strong> is the first installment. While not based on an existing book, it<em> <\/em>embodies the series\u2019 ethos and brutality in a fun and terrifying way. And nothing represents that more than one particular kill involving a beloved character and a bakery bread slicer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-the-fear-street-scene-everyone-is-talking-about\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Fear_Street_scene_everyone_is_talking_about\"><\/span>The Fear Street scene everyone is talking about<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The movie follows depressed teen Deena (Kiana Madeira), her brother Josh (Benjamin Flores Jr.), her best friends Kate and Simon (Julia Rehwald and Fred Hechinger), and her ex-girlfriend Sam (Olivia Scott Welch) as they all battle the ghost of Sarah Fier, a witch whose malice they believe is causing a string of bloody deaths in Shadyside.<\/p>\n<p>During the climactic showdown at the end of <em>Fear Street Part 1: 1994<\/em>, each character fights a reanimated serial killer from the town\u2019s past in the local grocery store. Kate battles an ax-wielding, mask-wearing maniac. As she hides behind the bakery counter, he gets the best of her and throws her on a cutting board. He then revs up the bread slicer and slowly feeds her head through the machine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-why-the-bread-slicer-kill-is-so-distinctive\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_the_bread_slicer_kill_is_so_distinctive\"><\/span>Why the bread slicer kill is so distinctive<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In an <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2021\/07\/fear-street-trilogy-gore-1234647235\/\">interview with IndieWire<\/a>, Janiak reveals the bread slicer scene was her favorite kill of the whole <em>Fear Street<\/em> trilogy and that a lot of effort went into making sure it would work in the movie.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>\u201cWe did so much research going into it because I was getting into all of these little arguments with my art department because they were like, \u2018A head wouldn\u2019t do that,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t care. We\u2019re making a movie. This is fun. Whatever!\u2019 Then they bought a bread slicer and we put watermelons through it, and the first watermelon that went through just got sliced perfectly. Then they were like, \u2018Well, it doesn\u2019t have hair,\u2019 I was like, \u2018We\u2019re doing this. We\u2019re doing it.\u2019 That\u2019s my favorite for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The director\u2019s persistence completely paid off. This <em>Saw<\/em>-like moment feels particularly cruel because the core group of friends has been safe thus far. Janiak creates a false sense of security in their survival. And in the blink of an eye, that small place of comfort is sliced to ribbons. But that was all part of the plan. \u201cWe needed to have real loss in order to keep us propelling forward,\u201d Janiak says.<\/p>\n<p>With the bread slicer scene, <em>Fear Street Part 1: 1994<\/em> sets an incredibly gory tone for the trilogy.
