A day after winning the Democratic mayoral primary, Eric Adams made good on a campaign promise \u2014 by getting an ear pierced.<\/p>\n

The former police captain posted the footage of his left lobe getting needled Wednesday on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the campaign trail a group of young people met with my son & me. They asked \u2018how do we know you\u2019re not like other politicians who make promises they don\u2019t keep,\u2019\u201d he wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said we\u2019ll trust you if you promise to pierce your ear when you win the primary. Promise made, promise kept!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

In comments after the jab, he says: \u201cAlready lived up to my first promise to that young man. So, if you see it on social media, young man, I told you I was going to do it and I just did what I promised.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds: \u201cDay one living up to my promise.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an interview on MSNBC\u2019s \u201cMorning Joe,\u201d Adams said: \u201cWell you know, difficult things, you must make difficult decisions. Actually, it was a group of young people who made a commitment, and my son said, \u2018Promises made must be promises kept.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Adams eked out a narrow victory in the ranked-choice primary, according to a preliminary count of the\u00a0final vote tally\u00a0Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

He emerged narrowly ahead of Kathryn Garcia, 50.5 percent to 49.5 percent, according to unofficial figures posted on the BOE\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile there are still some very small amounts of votes to be counted, the results are clear: an historic, diverse, five-borough coalition led by working-class New Yorkers has led us to victory in the Democratic primary for Mayor of New York City,\u201d Adams said.<\/p>\n
