“#NYPD cops shoot armed suspect in Brooklyn: sources<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n

Police officers opened fire and killed an armed suspect that fled the scene of a trip<\/a>le shooting in Brooklyn late Thursday night, police and sources said.<\/p>\n

A trio of uniformed cops in a marked car heard gunfire and responded to a scene with three people shot outside Boardwalk Wine and Spirits on Halsey Street, near Wilson Avenue, in Bushwick at about 10:30 p.m., according to police and sources.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A group outside the liquor store pointed cops toward the fleeing gunman \u2014 and they immedia<\/a>tely gave chase with their body-worn cameras activated, NYPD Chief of Patrol Juanita Holmes said at an early Friday press conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guy was on the sidewalk and running,\u201d towards Weirfield Street when the cops showed up, a witness told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey had their guns drawn, screaming \u2018get your hands up! Drop the gun!\u2019\u201d the witness said. \u201cHe kept moving. He kept taking off. That\u2019s when he got between the two cars and that\u2019s when the cops fired.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holmes said that after the man refused orders to drop his weapon, police opened fire when he raised \u201cthe firearm in the direction\u201d of them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sources said all three cops \u2014 two officers and a sergeant\u00a0\u2014\u00a0 fired their guns.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A gun was recovered at the scene, according to Holmes, who said she reviewed the bodycam footage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The suspect was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

Two officers were taken to the hospital for observation and three men who were shot were also hospitalized, but their conditions were not immediately known.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

Sources said the suspect has seven prior arrests, including for gun possession and robbery. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

One source praised the three cops for their quick action.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had multiple shootings in this area and these cops were exactly where they were supposed to be,\u201d the source said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A window at the liquor store \u2014 near the scene of the original shooting \u2014 was blown out in the mayhem.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard like 20 shots,\u201d another witness said. \u201cWe ran to the window and [EMTs] were giving him CPR for like 10 minutes \u2026 a lot of blood.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
