A Michigan woman was shocked after accidentally receiving a hurtful message from her prospective employer, in which he described her as \u201cnot that cute.\u201d A now-viral video detailing the incendiary application review \u2014 posted Thursday on TikTok \u2014 has amassed more than 1.3 million views on the streaming platform as of Friday morning. <\/p>\n

\u201cFeeling amazing,\u201d snarked a dejected Gracie Lorincz<\/a> in the caption to her clip. The fiasco occurred while the 21-year-old college grad was applying for a position as a \u201cbrand representative\u201d for the Auburn Hills-based Ava Lane Boutique, which purports to inspire \u201cbeauty through confidence,\u201d per the clip.<\/p>\n

They betrayed their motto after Chuck DeGrendel, VP of operations, accidentally sent the prospective employee a dismissive email, which was intended for his wife and the store\u2019s owner Laura Langen DeGrendel, Click On Detroit reported.<\/a> \u201cThis girl is fresh out of college (Hope College) and not that cute,\u201d wrote DeGrendel, according to the local outlet. \u201cShe applied to the sales model position. Are you sure you want me to interview her?\u201d<\/p>\n

Go figure: The boutique boss\u2019 shallow remarks didn\u2019t sit that well with Lorincz\u2019s mom Heather, who told Fox News<\/a> that the incident \u201cwas embarrassing\u201d and \u201cmade her feel terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

The angry parent added, \u201cShe is a sweet kid, she is not an attention hog. She is not a social media<\/a> personality, and didn\u2019t anticipate what this turned into.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cClothing is \u2018not that cute,\u2019 \u201d snarked one of Lorincz\u2019s defender on the site. \u201cNot to mention the app also crashes a lot. I could not find any selection worth purchasing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another wrote that people \u201cshould never support a company that refuses to interview someone because in their words \u2018they\u2019re not that cute.\u2019 \u201d Ava Lane\u2019s owners claimed that people had shared their phone numbers and address, and even threatened their life over the comments, Click On Detroit reported.<\/p>\n

In response to the backlash, husband and wife owners Chuck and Laura DeGrendel have since uploaded a Facebook Live video<\/a>, in which they tearfully apologized for the \u201cinappropriate\u201d correspondence. <\/p>\n

\u201cI sent a reply back to Laura that said that she was a recent college grad, and I didn\u2019t feel that she was that cute, so I wasn\u2019t sure if we wanted to proceed with an interview,\u201d explained a rueful Dave of his flippant comments. \u201cI don\u2019t know why I said that, but I did, and I\u2019m very, very sorry for saying that because it was very unprofessional and really not in line with our core values here, or my core values in general.\u201d<\/p>\n

His wife, who came on-screen later, added, between sobs: \u201cHe made a mistake, and he owns it.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n
