series<\/a> (<em>Brilliant But Canceled<\/em>) devoted to the topic.<\/p>\n<p>Every pilot season, we TV fanatics track the development slates of the broadcast networks with bated breath, crossing our fingers that our favorite premises make it to air. Invariably, many don\u2019t: As the intro to <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=s17nN_CX4_c\">The TV Set<\/a><\/em> attests, only one quarter of produced pilots end up on the primetime lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the ones we wish had reached our TV screens.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"North_Hollywood_ABC_2001\"><\/span><em>North Hollywood<\/em> (ABC, 2001)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This failed Judd Apatow pilot <em>about<\/em> aspiring Hollywood talents <em>starred<\/em> four aspiring Hollywood talents on the brink of fame: Kevin Hart, January Jones, Amy Poehler, and Jason Segel<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nobodys_Watching_NBC_2006\"><\/span><em>Nobody\u2019s Watching<\/em> (NBC, 2006)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Nobody <em>got<\/em> to watch this comedy. Cocreated by <em>Scrubs<\/em>\u2019 Bill Lawrence, it featured Paul Campbell and Taran Killam as two TV addicts who grow frustrated with \u201cthe dreadful state of television programming\u201d and sign up for a reality show chronicling their efforts to make a better sitcom.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Body_Politic_The_CW_2009\"><\/span><em>The Body Politic<\/em> (The CW, 2009)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Minka Kelly landed the lead role in this pilot about a young woman from Michigan who takes a job with a U.S. senator\u2014her long-lost dad (Tim Matheson)\u2014and becomes friends with \u201cother eager up-and-comers,\u201d played by Gabrielle Union, Brian Austin Green, and Jason Dohring.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Inside_the_Box_ABC_2009\"><\/span><em>Inside the Box<\/em> (ABC, 2009)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> of Thrones<\/em>\u2019 Indira Varma and a gaggle of future <em>Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> stars\u2014Sarah Drew, Jason George, Martin Henderson, and Kim Raver\u2014starred in this Shondaland drama about the \u201cfast-paced, cutthroat world of network <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"17th_Precinct_NBC_2011\"><\/span><em>17th Precinct<\/em> (NBC, 2011)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Producer Ronald D. Moore enlisted some of his <em>Battlestar Galactica<\/em> alums\u2014James Callis, Jamie Bamber, and Tricia Helfer\u2014along with <em>Smallville<\/em>\u2019s Kristin Kreuk for a police drama in a fantastical San Francisco where magic supersedes <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hallelujah_ABC_2011\"><\/span><em>Hallelujah<\/em> (ABC, 2011)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In this drama from Marc Cherry of <em>Desperate Housewives<\/em> fame, the titular small town is the scene of an \u201cepic battle between good and evil\u201d between a miraculous stranger (Jesse L. Martin) and a powerful businessman (Terry O\u2019Quinn). A gospel choir plays the role of a Greek chorus.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Super_Clyde_CBS_2013\"><\/span><em>Super Clyde<\/em> (CBS, 2013)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Harry Potter<\/em> alum Rupert Grint headlined this comedy as the titular character\u2014a \u201cmeek, unassuming fast food worker who decides to become a superhero,\u201d according to <em>Clyde<\/em>\u2018s logline\u2014and actors Tyler Labine and Stephen Fry were along for the ride.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_I_Met_Your_Dad_CBS_2014\"><\/span><em>How I Met Your Dad<\/em> (CBS, 2014)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Hulu is preparing <em>How I Met Your Father<\/em>, but this <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em> spinoff sitcom\u2014connected to its predecessor through the MacLaren\u2019s Pub setting\u2014would have had filmmaker and actress Greta Gerwig as its star and rom-com queen Meg Ryan as its narrator.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cruel_Intentions_NBC_2016\"><\/span><em>Cruel Intentions<\/em> (NBC, 2016)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In this sequel to the 1999 film of the same name, Sarah Michelle Gellar would have reprised the part of the conniving Kathryn Merteuil, no longer a teenager but a businesswoman with influence over her late brother\u2019s son.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jane_the_Novela_The_CW_2019\"><\/span><em>Jane the Novela<\/em> (The CW, 2019)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This <em>Jane the Virgin<\/em> spinoff was a proposed drama anthology, with each season dramatizing another of Jane\u2019s novels and Gina Rodriguez narrating her characters\u2019 imagined plots.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
