Hopefully, America\u2019s spies are a little more stealthy.<\/p>\n

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) was roundly mocked on social media<\/a> Thursday for using an image on the cover of its annual diversity report that was obviously Photoshopped.<\/p>\n

The report, subtitled \u201cHiring and Retention of Minorities, Women, and Persons with Disabilities in the United States Intelligence Community,\u201d featured a photo of smiling, diverse office staffers standing in a lobby, flanked by a woman in a wheelchair and a blind man with a seeing-eye dog. <\/p>\n

The title of the image on stock photography company Shutterstock<\/a> is: \u201cPortrait Of Multi-Cultural Office Staff Standing In Lobby.\u201d<\/p>\n

But one glaring problem \u2014 which was first pointed out by Republican political consultant and podcaster Luke Thompson \u2014 is that the woman in the wheelchair and the blind man don\u2019t app<\/a>ear in the original stock photo. They seem to have been Photoshopped into the image used on the ODNI report.<\/p>\n

\u201cSiri, show me the worst use of stock photos ever,\u201d Thompson tweeted Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Photoshopped image quickly gained more traction than the actual report<\/a>, which noted that the percentage of minorities and people with disabilities among civilian intelligence community employees ticked up to 27 percent and 11.9 percent, respectively, in fiscal year 2020 (up from 26.5 percent and 11.5 percent respectively in fiscal year 2019). The percentage of female civilian intelligence community employees held steady at 39.3 percent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings like this make you pray there actually is a shadow government running things,\u201d one Twitter user responded<\/a> to Thompson.<\/p>\n

Another user asked<\/a> why \u201cno one in this super-diverse office appears to be over 35? Is this the lobby of LogansRun Inc.?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is so, so bad,\u201d agreed Daily Wire senior editor Ashe Schow. \u201cIs the office not diverse enough to take its own photo?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it mildly disturbing that, within the vast Intelligence network overseen by the DNI, they apparently don\u2019t have anyone better at faking photos,\u201d said user @irishspy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Intelligence Community should reflect the diverse makeup of America and demonstrate that we are fostering an environment where every professional can succeed,\u201d Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said in a statement accompanying the report. \u201cPromoting diversity, equity, and inclusion is fundamental to our democratic values and critical to meeting the IC\u2019s mission. This takes work every single day. We are committed to doing more to address this critical issue and accelerate our progress.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ODNI did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the doctored image.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
