It was an offer he didn\u2019t refuse.<\/p>\n

Just days after winning the Democratic nomination for mayor, Eric Adams broke bread at storied Italian eatery Rao\u2019s with billionaire Republican John Catsimatidis.<\/p>\n

The former cop dined at the East Harlem hangout Thursday night with a group including the conservative media<\/a> mogul, whose daughter, Andrea, is chair of the Manhattan Republican Party.<\/p>\n

They sat at the table of another former cop, Richard \u201cBo\u201d Dietl, who invited Adams \u2014 and once mounted a longshot mayoral bid himself that eventually\u00a0resulted in campaign finance violations,\u00a0which\u00a0Dietl blamed on his campaign treasurer.<\/p>\n

Dietl told the Post on Friday that Adams was a last minute invite to his table after some hedge fund pals couldn\u2019t make it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI invited Eric and he showed up. We are social friends. This was not a planned event,\u201d the private eye and media commentator said.<\/p>\n

Catsimatidis and his PR man were invited too, Dietl added.<\/p>\n

The four were captured in a photo sitting beside each other in a photo sent to a New York Magazine reporter late Thursday that went viral.<\/p>\n

Catsimatidis, the owner of conservative talk radio station WABC-770AM,\u00a0insisted Friday that he had no idea he would be eating dinner Adams, who is the heavy favorite to be the Big App<\/a>le\u2019s next mayor thanks .\u201cWe went to Rao\u2019s for an enjoyable dinner and we were surprised to see Eric Adams,\u201d another person at the table said.<\/p>\n

However, Adams knew\u00a0Catsimatidis\u00a0would be there,\u00a0a campaign spokesman said.<\/p>\n

Catsimatidis said Friday he has known the rival-party candidate \u201ca long time,\u201d sounding impressed as he said, \u201cEric Adams is talking like he wants to do a good job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am an open-minded person \u2026 I am supporting common sense,\u201d said Catsimatidis, who also owns the Gristedes supermarket chain and is estimated to be worth $2.8 billion<\/a>. \u201cI am pro-common sense Democrat \u2014 I am pro-common sense Republican.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, his open mind still favored the Republican candidate, his former employee and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know Curtis Sliwa for 30 years. I am fighting for Curtis. I always support Curtis,\u201d Catsimatidis told The Post.<\/p>\n

Dietl \u2014 who earned headlines with his harsh attacks on Mayor Bill de Blasio \u2014 said that he\u2019s an Adams backer through and through.<\/p>\n

\u201cI supported Eric when he ran for state senate and when he ran for borough president. I\u2019ve been on Eric\u2019s bandwagon from the beginning,\u201d he said, adding that he would like to be an \u201cadviser\u201d to Adams if he wins, as expected, in November.<\/p>\n

The tab that evening included 20 lamb chops (because John [Catsimatidis] is Greek,\u201d Dietl said) and eventually ran to roughly $2,000, which the private eye told The Post he split with another person at the table.<\/p>\n

Dietl said he ordered the fusilli pasta with meatballs, sausage and mushrooms, while Catsimatidis said he chowed down on the restaurant\u2019s famed eggplant and veal parmigiana<\/p>\n

Both men told The Post that Adams ordered fish \u2014 with Dietl describing the BP\u2019s dinner as \u201cbroiled fish. No olive oil\u201d and \u201cspinach. No olive oil.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adams\u2019 representative insisted the candidate ordered the eggplant parmigiana \u2014 sans the cheese \u2014 in keeping with his vegan diet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe food was good,\u201d said Catsimatidis \u2014 who left before the check came.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
