Genya Markon has fighting words for the squatter who refuses to leave her family\u2019s cherished Hampton Bays home \u2013 a home purchased with an inheritance from an aunt who survived two Nazi concentration camps in World War II.<\/p>\n

\u201cGet the hell out. You don\u2019t deserve this house. It\u2019s not yours,\u201d Markon, 78, told The Post Saturday morning, after she awoke at a friend\u2019s home. \u201cYou have done everything feasible to wreck my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Julie Rinke, a real estate broker for Century 21, first rented Markon\u2019s 1,260-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom home September 2019. She was supposed to vacate June 18. But when Markon returned last month from Israel, where she spends her winters, Rinke refused to leave, citing pandemic-fueled hardship. <\/p>\n

Markon\u2019s attorney says Rinke is acting in a \u201cdishonest and manipulative way to exploit the COVID-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s living like a pig,\u201d Markon told The Post, noting upturned trash barrels, furniture strewn about the yard and a disheveled interior that she got to see for only two minutes when she returned to Hampton Bays last month.<\/p>\n

Markon, who is suing Rinke in Suffolk Supreme Court in a bid to get her out, is now locked in a battle to reclaim her home, valued at $675,000, not to mention her family\u2019s dignity. <\/p>\n

Markon\u2019s parents escaped Nazi-occupied France and arrived in the United States during World War II. Her dad and mom, Sasha and Raya Markon, developed an affinity for Hampton Bays when it was still a \u201csleepy\u201d town and befriended local artists such as David Burliuk.<\/p>\n

They bought this home near Shinnecock Bay in 1967 with money they inherited from Markon\u2019s maternal aunt, Katia Magid, who survived Hitler\u2019s concentration camps at both Kaiserwald and Stuffhof.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mom hadn\u2019t heard from her sister in years. One of my major childhood memories is my mom receiving the telegram that said my aunt was alive and the joy and hysteria that followed,\u201d said Markon, who sent 19 years working for the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. while representing the organization in Israel, too.<\/p>\n

Now Rinke has refused to relinquish the home where Markon houses many of those cherished memories. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy home was not quite an art museum but it was a little gem and now it\u2019s being ruined,\u201d Markon said. Among other indignities, she says the squatter has removed from the walls the artwork she and her family had collected over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cNeat and organized house cared for by interior decorator that she claims to be. What a joke,\u201d said Markon, citing photos of the mess. \u201cMaybe she will be shamed out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rinke could not immedia<\/a>tely be reached for comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
