The inmate who made a daring overnight escape from the city\u2019s floating jail, sparking an intense, five-borough manhunt, left behind a note taunting jail guards for not doing a good enough job checking his cell, a law enforcement source told The Post. <\/p>\n

The look on David Mordukhaev\u2019s face when he was finally captured in Brooklyn said it all.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis eyes were very scary\u2026like he wanted to fight and kill somebody,\u201d one witness told The Post. <\/p>\n

Mordukhaev, 30, was last seen in his cell at the Vernon C. Bain Correctional Facility at 8:24 p.m. Friday, the source said. <\/p>\n

It took guards eight hours to realize he\u2019d tied a long, knotted rope to his bed frame and gotten his 5-foot-8, 220-pound frame out the window, according to the source.<\/p>\n

When staff finally checked Mordukhaev\u2019s cell, they found a sheet blocking the door, the rope, burn marks on the window frame and a note on the wall.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpecial search just searched my cell and they didn\u2019t check the window,\u201d Mordukhaev, 30, had written, according to the source.<\/p>\n

Federal investigators \u2014 who are app<\/a>arently probing associates of Mordukhaev \u2014 had called around 1 a.m. asking jail staff to check on the inmate. Jailers claimed Mordukhaev was accounted for, the source said. <\/p>\n

The feds called a second time, at 4:35 a.m., and that\u2019s when jail staff realized the inmate was gone \u2014 and found the note. <\/p>\n

Mordukhaev, who was in jail on a burglary charge, was picked up at the nearby Fulton Fish Market in a Mercedez Benz, the source said. There were reports of drone activity at the time. <\/p>\n

He was later captured by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the federal Office of the Inspector General<\/a> and the NYPD in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn just before 5 p.m., a source said.<\/p>\n

Six vans full of cops swooped down on a large apartment building at 79 Brighton 11th Street where residents say the escapee appeared to have been hiding out on the third floor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u00a0\u00a0were quiet. They got what they came for and left,\u201d\u00a0one resident said of the police.<\/p>\n

The inmate tried to plead his innocence \u2014 and demand his freedom, said a mother and daughter who live in the building.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was looking out my window and saw four or five cops, undercovers. They put handcuffs on him and he started screaming. He was screaming like crazy,\u201d she told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was angry. He said \u2018Oh I didn\u2019t do anything. Please don\u2019t arrest me.\u2019 He was very angry,\u201d said her daughter. \u201cHe was like, \u2018Please release me right now. I didn\u2019t do anything.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The two called Mordukhaev \u201cchubby\u201d and couldn\u2019t believe he\u2019d gotten out his cell window.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s too big for that. Maybe a 12-year-old can get through that. He\u2019s too big,\u201d the mom said.<\/p>\n

The mom added, \u201cI said to my mom after I got the Citizen app that he can be in the neighborhood and look I was right.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Mordukhaev wasn\u2019t going back to the city jail he\u2019d escaped from: the inmate was remanded to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the source noted. \n <\/div>\n
