But \u201ctheir censorship constitutes state action, because the government granted them immunity from legal liability\u201d \u2014 via Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act \u2014 and in addition \u201cthreatened to punish them if they allow disfavored speech\u00a0and colluded with them in choosing targets for censorship.\u201d In other words, Trump has a colorable claim that he has been\u00a0the victim of effective government, rather than private, censorship.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Crime_beat_Wrong_Solutions_for_Murder_Spike\"><\/span>Crime beat: Wrong Solutions for Murder Spike<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/progressive-policies-wont-stop-the-crime-wave\">City Journal\u2019s Charles Fain Lehman &amp; Rafael A. Mangual<\/a> squarely refute progressives\u2019 claims, in the voice of Eric Levitz in New York magazine, that their criminal-justice reforms will curb the \u201chomicide spike.\u201d Indeed, progressives argue, the\u00a0\u201c30 percent year-over-year increase\u201d is actually cause to back their agenda \u2014 which \u201creduces the footprints of incarceration and policing.\u201d Levitz claims such left-leaning policies have a track record of controlling violent crime, while the social costs of law-and-order <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roaches may be too high. Yet he \u201coverstates the effectiveness of progressive alternatives and understates the evidence behind traditional crime control,\u201d Lehman and Mangual argue. To his claim that \u201csafety and compassion have been deemed competing goods,\u201d they counter that \u201csafety and compassion for victims are perfectly compatible. Comedian Jon Stewart\u2019s \u201crecognition of objective facts\u201d that the coronavirus likely escaped from the Wuhan lab effectively destroyed \u201cthe charge of Trump\u2019s xenophobia, hostility to proven <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> and scapegoating.\u201d And liberal \u201cwise-cracker\u201d Bill Maher\u2019s warning \u201cabout the dangers of continuing with the piercingly monotonous fictions\u201d that have propelled progressives thus far is now \u201cricocheting in the ears of the Trump-hate coalition.\u201d With the ex-prez still retaining the support of more than 40 percent of Americans, Trump-haters are realizing that \u201cthey may have squeezed all the juice there is out of that lemon.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Military_expert_CRT_vs_the_Military\"><\/span>Military expert: CRT vs. the Military<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cCritical race theory undermines military effectiveness,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/politics\/critical-race-theory-undermines-military-effectiveness\">declares Mackubin Owens at the Washington Examiner<\/a>. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, whom Owens taught at the Naval War College, is a \u201cfine officer\u201d but \u201csimply wrong\u201d about CRT. It isn\u2019t \u201ca benign academic theory in support of the advancement of civil rights for African-Americans\u201d but \u201ca species of Marxism\u201d that divides Americans by race into \u201coppressors and victims.\u201d CRT \u201cencourages distrust among racial groups, which is fatal for the unit cohesion upon which military effectiveness depends.\u201d Decades ago, a sociologist observed the Army \u201cwas the only institution in America in which black men routinely gave orders to white men.\u201d But \u201cthe perception of favoritism\u201d kills \u201ctrust and morale,\u201d and CRT would increase \u201cracial conflict\u201d by keeping the military from \u201cholding all to equal standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Faith_desk_Lie_of_a_Church_%E2%80%98Genocide_in_Canada\"><\/span>Faith desk: Lie of a Church \u2018Genocide\u2019 in Canada<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Catholic churches have been torched in Canada these past two weeks after\u00a0the \u201cdiscovery of the remains of hundreds of indigenous youths, buried near the residential schools\u201d run, sometimes badly, by the church, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.firstthings.com\/web-exclusives\/2021\/07\/the-history-of-canadas-residential-schools\">Douglas Farrow reports at First Things<\/a>.
