“#The Black Keys\u2019 Dan Auerbach to Direct New Dr. John Documentary<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys will make his debut as a feature film director with a documentary on the late Dr. John, as The Associated Press<\/a> notes. The doc, made with RadicalMedia<\/a> and Impact Artist Productions, follows Auerbach\u2019s production of the beloved New Orleans artist\u2019s 2012 album Locked Down<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In a press release, Auerbach said Dr. John \u201cwas such a unique individual and a shining example of the great melting pot of American music. From his mysterious voodoo stage persona Dr. John, to his real, humble self Mac Rebannack\u2014the street poet, the family man, the junkie, the Grammy award winner and all that\u2019s in between\u2014this documentary will introduce the world to him in a way they haven\u2019t seen him before. I\u2019m still learning bits about him that I never knew, and I hope the movie provides a lens into the story of the life of Dr. John.\u201d<\/p>\n

Executive producers of the film include Jon Kamen and Jon Doran (for RadicalMedia), Dr. John\u2019s longtime managers Ed Gerard and Peter Himberger of Impact Artist Productions, and independent producer Leopoldo Gout.<\/p>\n
