A California man is missing after he failed to return from a run in a \u201crugged\u201d canyon-filled area outside San Francisco last weekend, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Philip Kreycik, 37, of Berkeley, drove his car to Moller Ranch around 11 a.m. Saturday and told his wife he was heading out on an hour-long run in the East Bay Regional Park in Pleasanton, SFGate reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When he didn\u2019t return by 2 p.m., his wife contacted authorities and reported him missing, police said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis phone was left in his car with his ID, which is app<\/a>arently normal for him. He\u2019s a pretty active runner and he\u2019s all about the speed and he doesn\u2019t like to carry a lot of things,\u201d Lt. Chris Niederhaus told NBC Bay Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A search was launched with help from personnel from the East Bay Regional Park Police, Alameda County Sheriff\u2019s Department and the California Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

Search crews are using drones, fixed-wing aircraft and off-road vehicles to locate Kreycik.<\/p>\n

Police uncovered a planned route for his run on his phone that was still in the car \u2014 but search crews have been unable to find him on the trail, news station KRON reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis area \u2026 is a very steep, rugged, canyon type of environment \u2014 and there\u2019s a lot of little trails that go left and right,\u201d Niederhaus told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Neiderhaus\u00a0said they fear that the heat on Saturday may have played a role in his disappearance.<\/p>\n
