It\u2019s comfort food \u2014 in a cone.<\/p>\n

A limited-edition macaroni and cheese-flavored ice cream will hit freezers nationwide this week, Brooklyn-based ice cream maker Van Leeuwen and Kraft Heinz announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The cheesy frozen treat will go on sale for $12 a pint at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday to mark National Macaroni & Cheese Day, the companies said. <\/p>\n

It will be available for purchase in Van Leeuwen\u2019s stores across the country as well as online while supplies last. <\/p>\n

The companies described the ice cream as a \u201ccool, creamy scoop of ice cream that brings that comforting, nostalgic feeling from a warm bowl of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that there is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than ice cream. That is why we wanted to combine two of the most iconic comfort foods to create an ice cream with the unforgettable flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese we all grew up with,\u201d said Emily Violett, a senior associate brand manager for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.<\/p>\n

Brothers Pete and Ben Van Leeuwen and Laura O\u2019Neill founded Van Leeuwen in 2008, operating out of a yellow truck on the streets of New York City.<\/p>\n

The idea was to use fair trade high-end ingredients, many of them organic, to make their own artisanal flavors that include Honeycomb, Marionberry Cheesecake, Vegan Early Grey Tea and now, Kraft Mac & Cheese. <\/p>\n
